Even if the rear ZF sprocket is a dual material one, the weight difference is not that noticeable.
To my way of thinking it's better to pay more and do less chain adjustments. I use this chain on 3 of my bikes without problems and since i installed it from new bikes (or in one case relatively new) there was no need to replace sprockets. It's a riveted link which i personally would stick with. Price varies widely from dealer to dealer.Reviving an old thread here…
What’s the best chain and sprockets combination? Is more expensive better? Can you size down the chain to save weight? Is a ‘silent’ front sprocket really any quieter? Is an aluminium rear sprocket being lighter any benefit?
Vitpilen 701 15 front 41 rear 100 KM. 4500 RPM. In 6th.I went with 15 front 41 rear and a new chain, I must say this is the way it should have come from factory. The gearing combined with the fueling dongle/O2 delete makes the bike so much more drivable, it doesn't bog or cog like it used to. It can accelerate fine from 20 MPH in 3rd and cruises on the highway all day at 60 MPH in 6th at 3500 RPM and accelerates really well in 6th when you give it gas. I will try later a 14/42 combo to see if I like it better, top speed went from 125 down to 115 and in theory with the 14/42 combo it should be 105, which is fine by me since I never drive above 70 on it.
Here are the part numbers I used.
Front: JTF1902.15
Rear: JTR897.41
Chain: JTC520X1R114DL
