Dutch Vitpilen 701

I treid one and it made my exhaust glow orange at low speed, so must have more flow, I took it off cause of that glowing.

Maybe with you set up it runs better?

I've got the k&n, an o2 dongle and the akrapovic slip on.
As far as I can tell the bike runs fine. Never noticed the header glowing orange, but then I never look at the header while I'm riding 🤷🏻‍♂️

I noticed when I was rolling through a "play zone" street very slow, around dusk and some kids were pointing, so I looked and my whole header was bright orange.
I do not have a dongle, so...

Last Sunday my dash lit up with a TC Failure message and the check engine light came on.
Wasn't that bothered because my TC is always switched off, but after the fault my quickshifter stopped working.
Switching the bike off and on resulted in the quickshifter working again, but the check engine light remained on.
Ordered an adapter cable and borrowed my dad's obd scanner.

The scanner found 1 stored fault, it gave a pretty generic code, but since the dash said TC failure, I am pretty sure it was something TC related 😅

Reset the code, started the bike, and hey ho the check engine light is off 🥳

Going for a ride tomorrow to see if it comes back.
Fingers crossed it doesn't 🤞🏻

Well, it did come back.

Went for a ride, and after about 10km I got another TC failure message and check engine light. Combined with the bike going into limp mode. Felt like it had about 10hp left. Felt like a moped.
Turning it off and on again did nothing. So I limped home in slow-motion. 😅
Hooking it up to the code reader resulted in this:

And I found a thread on reddit of someone with similar problems who solved it by replacing the throttle assembly.
So I found a 2014 ktm 690 SMC throttle grip assy for €40 incl delivery.
Swapped it over. No more issues.
Did about 1000km since, and I've stopped bringing the code reader on rides, cause I'm pretty sure the issue is fixed now. 🥳

Check the cables of the old throttle assembly, could be that there is an intermittent brake !

I'll check them sometime in the future 😅
To busy enjoying the lovely weather here and riding.
And it's almost time for the 30k km service on the Vit! It's at 29300km now.
Already have all the bits needed, incl a new chain and sprocket kit (15-41 it's on 16:40 at the moment) and a fuel filter.

O I almost forgot.
About a week ago I noticed it was getting harder to find neutral (which usually means the clutch needs bleeding). So I wanted to change the clutch fluid and bleed it.
Emptied the reservoir with a vacuum tool, and refilled with fresh fluid. Put the vacuum tool on the slave bleed nipple. Nothing. 🤔
Tried some different things, nothing seemed to work, couldn't get any pressure at the lever.
Since the master cylinder needed bleeding every now and then I ordered a rebuild kit end of last year. So I had that lying around.
So I took apart the master cylinder and found this:

So I just cleaned the whole thing and stuck in the rebuild kit. Filled with fresh fluid, some bleeding at the slave and master and i had a nice firm lever again 👌🏻

Do you know the part number and/or source of the rebuild kit which you used?
I used the original bits from Husqvarna:
59413008000
But I later found you can find the same kit for about half the price if you just google magura hc1 rebuild kit 😅
You need the 12mm set.

Ha! I had the same thing failing. At some point the plunger just becomes stuck and won't return. Replaced for the second time a few months ago. Once every two years...

A known issue on Magura HC-1 master cylinders. My buddy had the same problem on his SDR1290...

Yes, so far I'm not very impressed with magura hardware.
Clutch slave on the 990 is a known weak spot, and it's the same on the 690/701, and now the masters as well.
I'll order a new rebuild kit, so I can replace it immediately if it fails again.
And if it fails again I'll probably start looking for a different master cylinder.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Luckily the original one is still working fine at my 2018 Vitpilen.
