Aftermarket parts questions

I got the Puig screen from Pyramid Plastics who are UK rep for Puig of Spain. It's fine for windflow but I'm only 5'8" so it might not be so good for you. But the Puig is a few inches taller than the Dart.

Thanks for the airbox video. It's always good when folks can back their claims with dyno results. I will remove the lid.

I've started digging into the bike now. The rear panels (left/right) come off in one piece. Four fasteners on each side, plus one passenger peg fastener has to come out temporarily. Just my opinion, but I think the bike looks much better without them. It's very clean. Even the key slot for the seat removal is easier to see and access, and cleanly mounted in the frame underneath the panel.
I also answered my own question about needing a blank to replace the left side passenger peg. The answer is no.

More to come.......
Hi Ray,
Any chance you could post some pics of your bike with these panels removed please?

Sure. We're in our rainy season, so I'm spending time (and money) on the changes now. I'm taking the bike apart and waiting for the new parts to arrive. Notice....no muffler or cat. It looks to me like when you remove the rear panels from a Svartpilen, you reveal the Vitpilen tail.

Hi,
I just bought a 2019 Svartpilen 701 and have a few questions.

Does anyone make a replacement LED turn signal that's truly plug and play (no external resistors)?
I see there are options for a left side luggage/rack. But does anyone make a rack for the right side or left/right combo?
Can the number plate on the right rear be removed so the bike looks more symmetrical? Or can/should both left and right panels be removed?
How far can the exhaust/airbox be modified without adding a Power Commander? I'll add the fuel dongle, but will that be enough if I change the mid-pipe and muffler? Or just the mid-pipe?
Is the clutch slave cylinder a weak point on the bike, so should be swapped with an Oberon or Rekluse?
I plan on removing the passenger pegs. I see some good looking muffler hangers from Evotech and R&G. R&G also sells a blank for left side. Any opinions on whether it's needed to keep a clean look?
Anyone disappointed with their R&G or Evotech tail tidy? Others I should consider?
Any good windscreen options? I see Puig makes one specific to this bike. Any others?

Thanks for any input! And thanks to whoever created this forum! It seems to be the only one that has any Pilen-specific information.
I’ve made some decisions on these....
LED signals - Cyclops because they seem to be plug and play with no resistors. They say just replace the flasher unit with the included dongle. I hope it works....

Luggage rack - Unit Garage seems to be the only company making a rack for the 701 Svartpilen/Vitpilen. I ordered the Vitpilen model since I removed the rear body panels from my bike. I also ordered the pannier latching mechanisms from Velofred. I’m not sure yet which pannier I’m going to get.

Number plate/body panels - The rear panels come off fairly easily as one piece. Doing so makes the back look the same as the Vitpilen.

Exhaust - I ordered the Arrow mid pipe and muffler, along with the Rottweiler fuel dongle and SAS removal kit. I’ll also remove the air box lid.

Clutch Slave - I ordered the Rekluse.

Muffler hanger and tail tidy - I ordered the Evotech models.

Windscreen - I ordered the Puig model specific for the Svartpilen. The Dart (Ducati Scrambler model) looked interesting, but I wasn’t confident it would fit the Svartpilen as easily as it does the Vitpilen. Plus, the Puig seems to offer a bit better protection.

A few other changes.....CRG Arrow bar end mirror. SW-Motech tank bag and mounting ring. Fender extender for the front and a hugger extension for the rear. Denali sound bomb mini horn. Antigravity battery. 15t front sprocket.

I think that’s it. Whew! Now just waiting for the shipments to arrive.

Still looking for a rear rack like the one Husqvarna makes to replace the rear seat on the 401.

Interestingly, just the other day my LFR-1 led flasher gave up the ghost after 10 months. Weird, because it's all solid state afaik. I may need to rubber mount the new one, I bolted this one agains a convenient bolt somewhere.

I ordered a new one, will keep you posted.

You still have a small pcb board and solder joints so still susceptible to the effects of vibration...
Or maybe it's from the wheelie's :)

I’m assuming the Unit Garage rack shipped from Italy. I ordered it Tuesday and it arrived today. For $14E. Now that’s service!

Luggage update.......
I just found that Husqvarna makes soft luggage and racks for the Vitpilen. The kit has bags for both the left and right side. This seems to me like a better solution than the Unit Garage setup. Anyone here using the Husky set that can comment?

I have them but haven’t really used them yet (Covid...).

They are reasonably well made but an odd shape and not huge either, maybe 10litres each? The mounts do mean you could use other throw overs but there may not be a lot of room with exhaust and so on. It’s not a big bike after all. They will allow easier mounting of a tailpack like a Kriega us20 or similar over the seat.
I bought them just to carry commuting oddments (lunch, change of clothes) and one will handle that.

Ok, little update. This is the flasher you need.

And this is how you should rewire the connector

And as the new flasher relay didn't come with the "slit" for the tab the original flasher user I bolted it down somewhere convenient.

The Cyclops LED turn signal kit I ordered is supposed to come with some sort of flasher unit replacement.
