Aftermarket parts questions

Nice! When you've got it installed could you post some pictures?
I want to know what it looks like on the bike. But the photos I found so far are all zoomed it so you only see the hugger extension.
Just an update.......
I’m still waiting for the front fender extender, rear hugger, Puig screen, and tank bag mounting ring to ship. I’ve received the rest of the parts and they’ve been installed. I canceled the turn signals and decided to use the OEM units. And also ended up using the Husqvarna muffler hanger because the Evotech unit was on back order with no estimated release date.
The Husqvarna luggage system is quite clever and seems well made. I am still trying to figure out the best way to carry extra fuel.

What rear hugger extension did you go for? The powerbronze one?
I received an email today from the folks at Powerbronze indicating they haven’t started production of the rear hugger for the Svartpilen 701 yet. Odd since their website shows it available. It’s likely why you haven’t seen any photos of it on the bike. They said it would be available after the new year.

That's lame 😔

Preorders save time in lot size estimation.

That’s great. Then why not indicate they’re accepting preorders on their website instead of letting potential customers believe they’re available and ready to ship? nampus has it right....lame.

Done and ready for spring.

Nice job there Ray,
You have not ridden her yet, so exciting times to come when your weather turns and you get loose, when do you expect that will be.?
Interested who's mirror, and bigger horn you gone with.? And keen to hear how you find the Husky luggage once you get some use with it.

I’ve been able to at least get an inaugural ride in.
I used a CRG Arrow mirror. The horn is a Denali unit from Twisted Throttle.
The initial ride exceeded my expectations. The engine is smoother than any single should be. I’m looking forward to getting it broken in. Unfortunately, we’re having one of the wettest Januarys in Oregon history. Climate change keeps us guessing when the sun will appear next.

Great you got a initial ride in, yes I second the engine smoothness, had a couple Ktm 640's in early 2000's, a Duke, and a big tank adventure, gosh they were VERY vibey and the reason I didn't keep for long, my current concern is with the gearbox, it seems harsh to change, and hoping it will smooth out with some kms and time, 880kms on her rite now, so expecting to be taking her to the dealer for first service mid next week, and per previous discussions, they put in Motorax full synthetic at that service, currently has a mineral oil, so maybe the shifting will smooth out a bit with that...
Everyones weather seems a real lottery these days, we have had a very mixed bag the last couple years, and Australia, whom send us there heat and smoke an dust, much the same, fingers crossed you get some dry soon...

Ray, Is your tank bag the Ion 1.? What was the ring part number to match the bike please.?

I was playing around trying to mount the Unit rear bag rack to the bike today, the supplied bolts don't seem to screw in, and it seems the hole in the outer metal rear subframe doesn't quite line up with the threaded hole in the black undertray, not tried all bolts yet, as I thought I would stop and chat with my dealer next week at service time, did you have any trouble getting the bolts in on your bike.?

Cheers Jeremy

I haven’t received my tank ring yet. It’s supposed to arrive this week. But I got the part numbers from DABOMB in his touring set up thread. It listed the ring part number as TRT.00.475.16000/B.
I never tried mounting the Unit rack, so I can’t say whether the bolts they provided worked or not. Keep in mind I removed the rear body panels from my bike, so that might have made mounting the Husky racks and tail tidy a bit easier.

I’ve made some decisions on these....
LED signals - Cyclops because they seem to be plug and play with no resistors. They say just replace the flasher unit with the included dongle. I hope it works....

Luggage rack - Unit Garage seems to be the only company making a rack for the 701 Svartpilen/Vitpilen. I ordered the Vitpilen model since I removed the rear body panels from my bike. I also ordered the pannier latching mechanisms from Velofred. I’m not sure yet which pannier I’m going to get.

Number plate/body panels - The rear panels come off fairly easily as one piece. Doing so makes the back look the same as the Vitpilen.

Exhaust - I ordered the Arrow mid pipe and muffler, along with the Rottweiler fuel dongle and SAS removal kit. I’ll also remove the air box lid.

Clutch Slave - I ordered the Rekluse.

Muffler hanger and tail tidy - I ordered the Evotech models.

Windscreen - I ordered the Puig model specific for the Svartpilen. The Dart (Ducati Scrambler model) looked interesting, but I wasn’t confident it would fit the Svartpilen as easily as it does the Vitpilen. Plus, the Puig seems to offer a bit better protection.

A few other changes.....CRG Arrow bar end mirror. SW-Motech tank bag and mounting ring. Fender extender for the front and a hugger extension for the rear. Denali sound bomb mini horn. Antigravity battery. 15t front sprocket.

I think that’s it. Whew! Now just waiting for the shipments to arrive.

Still looking for a rear rack like the one Husqvarna makes to replace the rear seat on the 401.
Hey Ray, curious how the Unit Garage and the Evotech tidy tail fit together... They work just fine? Did you have to get larger bolts?

Hi everyone, just bought a second hand 701 "style". I think I've read somewhere, sometime ago, that there are some 'plug and play' ECUs that you can fit the bike with so that it'll run in a less jerky way at low rpm. Is this a fantasy, or a reality ?

Thanks !

I'm thinking of Coober, but before you do shell out for that, there are ways to make your bike less jerky for less money.

- Rottweiler Fuel Dongle
- shorter gearing (stock 16-42 is really too tall)
- remove the airbox lid

Ok great thanks. Do you mean all these three modifications will achieve less jerkiness only when combined altogether, or each of them will already have an noticeable effect by themselves ?

According to my experience, it is better to eliminate db killer than the fuel dongle. Less jumps on low speeds and better fuel consumption.

Eliminating the dB killer, as in removing the end cap of the exhaust pipe by drilling the rivets and then sawing off the dB killer that is inside ? Cause I was planing to do that anyway (I did it on my Svart 401's stock exhaust, which resulted in a great sound improvement).

Yes, it is exactly like that.
All these small modifications will make your motorcycle run better at low rpm.
But remember that you drive a large single cylinder, it does not like to work at low revolutions and high gears.
