Hi,
I just bought a 2019 Svartpilen 701 and have a few questions.

Does anyone make a replacement LED turn signal that's truly plug and play (no external resistors)?
I see there are options for a left side luggage/rack. But does anyone make a rack for the right side or left/right combo?
Can the number plate on the right rear be removed so the bike looks more symmetrical? Or can/should both left and right panels be removed?
How far can the exhaust/airbox be modified without adding a Power Commander? I'll add the fuel dongle, but will that be enough if I change the mid-pipe and muffler? Or just the mid-pipe?
Is the clutch slave cylinder a weak point on the bike, so should be swapped with an Oberon or Rekluse?
I plan on removing the passenger pegs. I see some good looking muffler hangers from Evotech and R&G. R&G also sells a blank for left side. Any opinions on whether it's needed to keep a clean look?
Anyone disappointed with their R&G or Evotech tail tidy? Others I should consider?
Any good windscreen options? I see Puig makes one specific to this bike. Any others?

Thanks for any input! And thanks to whoever created this forum! It seems to be the only one that has any Pilen-specific information.

As far as the air goes, if you add a drop in filter and/or a slip on muffler you "should" be ok without doing the fueling.

When you increase airflow by opening up the airbox and/or replacing the mid pipe the fueling "should" be done to avoid any issues.

--> my oppinion.

The 701 runs (a lot) better with the airbox cover removed and does not require changes to the fuelling.

A K&N drop in filter will bring NO gains, they actually let in more fine dust particles. Waste of money...

On turn signals... check out this post:

And note there is a link to some "New Rage" signals for the 701.

Thanks for the airbox video. It's always good when folks can back their claims with dyno results. I will remove the lid.

I've started digging into the bike now. The rear panels (left/right) come off in one piece. Four fasteners on each side, plus one passenger peg fastener has to come out temporarily. Just my opinion, but I think the bike looks much better without them. It's very clean. Even the key slot for the seat removal is easier to see and access, and cleanly mounted in the frame underneath the panel.
I also answered my own question about needing a blank to replace the left side passenger peg. The answer is no.

More to come.......

In the area where those Pirate guys are located, regular pump gas is 95-98 octane.

Better gas means colder pistons right?

Yes/Nope. You just need the octane to be high enough to avoid knocking.

US and Europe use different fuel ratings. US 91 is about the same as Eu 97.

I read that just before I didnt sign the paper for an extended warranty
I may still reconsider, need to run the numbers again though.

That’s odd, and doesn’t inspire confidence.

(that said, I never bought extended warranty. So many items excluded, and if my bike doesn’t fail in the first two years I trust it to last many more years/miles.)

Piston kit is cheaper than the warranty...

Anyways, when you drastically change the the amount of air flowing through the engine, you "should" consider applying a proper tune for the fueling.

As far as the signals go, I think this part is the relay for EU bikes with LED.

No worries, guys. If the bike starts popping or develops a lean surge, I'll just put the airbox lid back on. Easy peasy.
Now back to the parts questions.......

I see the Cyclops LED signals don't appear to require any resistors. Instead it looks like they replace the flasher with a dongle. Anyone install these yet?

I installed the ELFR-1 led flasher relay with Chinese ktm knock off blinkers. It works, but the flashing is still a bit fast. In fact I used load resistors as a test on my rear blinkers and it didn't make any difference so I guess this relay is just a bit faster than what I'd expect.

On two of your other points, Ray, the Evotech muffler hanger is a nice piece of kit. It fits and looks well.
The Puig screen ( I don't know of another make the has a specific Svart/Vit fit) works well at keeping wind off the chest. It's well made too and the fittings are spot on. Only problem I find is its look - I'm not keen on the V top. A rounded top such as a Dart screen looks nicer I think. Dart don't do a specific screen but I have seen someone on the forum say he made a version for a Ducati Monster fit.

Yes - I used the Dart Ducati scambler mount - needs some bending of the bracket, but mounts well.

On your CRG mirror mounts......did you have to do anything special to keep the bar end weights? I've ordered a CRG LS mirror and their mounting kit. It appears you have the same setup.

On the Puig screen.....do you have a link to where you bought yours? The US dealers apparently can't get them for the Svart701 yet. Was the airflow clean? No buffeting?

On the Dart screen.....my goal is to keep most of the wind off my body (I'm 6'4"). A clean stream to the helmet is ok. But I don't want any buffeting. How does the Dart work for you?

Was able to use the stock bar end weights - the mounts go around the bar, so just need to slide all the bits further in by 1/2".

For the Dart, at 6'4", I don't think the wind will sweep over your head - I'm 5' 7", so ok for me.

I’m not looking for the air to sweep over my head. Just a clean airflow above my shoulders. No buffeting.

And moving the bits in a 1/2” doesn’t feel weird? Or is it a small enough move that you don’t notice?
