I recently fitted the Arrow muffler. I struggled to find any reviews of how it sounded that helped me decided so I took a gamble. It paid off. Thought I’d share as may help someone in my position.
Fit and finish: 10/10
Looks: For me 10/10 but that is entirely subjective. One of the design elements I love about this pipe is that the baffle is invisible and doesn’t take away from the open pipe look.
Performance: can’t really comment as I didn’t have the bike for three months and when I got it back I fitted the pipe immediately so I can’t remember how it rode before. But it feels great - no flat spots - pulls hard.
Sound:
Again this is subjective but I feel I should give context as well for this to be useful.
I have always found myself with bikes where I get a baffled pipe and find them pointlessly quiet when baffled (plus the baffles ruin the look usually) and too loud with baffle removed. With the stock exhaust this was the case. I removed the baffle but found it awful - a drone that made my brain explode on anything over a 10 min ride.
As mentioned above, the great thing about the Arrow that appealed to me was that the baffle is recessed and therefore doesn’t ruin the look. The baffle is removable if you’re willing to do some dremelling of the little welds holding it in. Arrow clearly expects this as once the weld are removed, there is a threaded hole and bolt supplied to hold the baffle in if you wish to refit it.
I fully expected to remove the baffle to at least modify it but I’m glad I didn’t bother because the sound with it in is perfect! It is surprisingly loud / deep for a baffled pipe but Is not actually loud and I definitely don’t want it louder. As it stands it has a lovely deep growl and lots of lovely pops on deceleration.
So I hope anyone considering this pipe finds this useful.
