Rear Bag and Side Bag simultaneously

Just to the underside of the seat. It works really well. I've ridden a few times with a really full Kriega bag and it doesn't move at all.

Hi Guys!

I needed a small bag for my laptop, waterproof jacket and a water bottle. Something that looks decent and works well. Simple installation on the rear seat.

By using Tom strap method, I managed to have Kriega US70 and a backpack on top it during my Scotland trip, it worked quite well. Encountered no problem on twisty roads or highways. Just make sure all strap are tighten up, or it might lean one side more favourably.

But for next camping trip, I would love to have panniers side bags that's are attached to the bike and more easy accessible. With this Kriega US70 system, I'm always dead last to pack up and once everything is strapped down, can't easily get access to the contents of the bags.

So you finally ended up with 90-100 liters on top of the pillion? That's quite a lot; never thought it could work.

As I found out, on my recent trip, panniers will only work if you can make a bracket to lift them away from the exhaust. I may try and make something on the lines of Tom’s left side pannier bracket
 
I’ll also add that switching to a one bag solution (roll top duffle bag) was so much quicker to install, remove and take with you when off the bike. My mistake was filling it with too much unnecessary stuff.

I was juggling with the idea of taking the side bags meant for Norden 901 and let a shop fabricate the side carrier, won't be cheap.

That's my idea as well, less faff.

I did it with some simple custom made straps (grey) and Kriega straps (black), but it also works if you only use Kriega straps.

what straps are you using? or just generic ones?

You referenced to this thread from the "Ready for Tour" discussion and I have to say that this low profile solution is really nice. Especially as it looks like something you can leave on permanently under the seat (without it showing) if not used.

Hi Stamans, the black straps are the standard Kriega straps; the grey straps, that I use with the small luggage rack, are some custom made straps made from some universal webbing that can be purchased from Amazon, Ebay or a hardewarestore; the webbing is available in many different colors.
Yes, you could simply leave the straps attached to the frame but under the seat if not used.
