801 Slip-on / exhaust list

Hey guys,

I’m finally been given the go ahead from Wifey to trade the 401 in for the 801. The exhaust debacle for the 801 grows daily in my head. Due to a hefty fine from the local government for holding my phone whilst driving ($1300) my exhaust savings have been sucked dry. Does anyone know if the KTM 790 link pipe will fit the purpose? Am thinking Ali express may be up there in my
Options for exhaust cans with a homemade bracket.
Thoughts appreciated!

The most affordable option should indeed be an Ali Duke 790 "middle link pipe" and an Ali 51mm universal muffler (the outer diameter of the middle link pipe ist 50,5mm).
Most of the universal mufflers are fitted to the bike with a metal-strap; with this solution you may not even need a custom made exhaust hanger/bracket.

You get what you pay for. I looked at titanium headers but decided to use a stainless Arrow set. Some of the reviews seem positive but who knows if there is any truth to them. Personally I wouldn’t.

BTW... Back in 2021/22 I made my own version of an 801 Svartpilen. Was an unloved 790 when I got it. But here it is after some stealth treatment and with a cheap (but decent) after market exhaust. I think it sounded great!.

the Ixil cat back is the same kit for the 801/790, so for their kit anyways, the link pipe is the same.

Very cool!

Was it real corrosion; or just discoloration from the heat?
Discolouration from the heat. But in the UK they put salt on the roads in winter, so that would be real corrosion too. That video was shot in Hong Kong when I was living there.

I must say I love the look of the original exhaust but it is too quiet! I may mod my stock exhaust (as per Tom's guide) at some point.

For now, I have fitted a very affordable Black Widow exhaust. It is for the 790, so not the most perfect fit, but you can make it work with some adjustments.

I will post a video next time I go for a ride but it sounds good. Not an earth-shattering difference but deeper and more purposeful.

Maybe svarts are different than vits. This thing looks like a single 3" piece of plastic with two nubs that I have to imagine have barbs on the underside of. I'll just try pulling.

Maybe also interesting to one or the other...
I'm still a big fan of the stock exhaust; to me it's still part of the quite special design of the 801, that I do like very much; but nevertheless (out of curiosity) I've ordered some CFMoto 800NK, Duke 790/890; and also universal exhaust parts to give them a try; of course none of them is street legal here in Europe...

That’s fine
Looking good but is it hanging loose or is this during installation?
Nice tail tidy as well!
Thanks guys! Correct - exhaust has no hanger, and hoping to keep it that way.. exhaust is barely 400g (little heavier with mid pipe) but clamp is holding strong so far. I like the minimalist look. It’s from Ali express so I’m about to order another one soon as well to swap out so see what looks better!

Dean, how loud is the exhaust; and do you ride it with or without additional db-killer?
I do like the CNC-milled end caps of the exhausts very much; the AR-laser engravings not so much.
I'm quite curious about the fittment of the 800NK exhaust; from my research it might fit even better than the Duke 790/890 exhausts; it's nearly identical, but the mounting point to the rear frame seems to be about 4-5cm more backwards.
