801 owners club

For those (like me) who prefers the Vitpilen headlight, i read on a test that it really wasn't that efficient at night ! I guess the svart one is brighter !? ( i haven't tested it so far though...). But maybe it's better to keep the svart headlight for frequent rides at nights !? ^^

Something else, i don't know if it's my vicking genes, but i find my steering lock very stiff and pretty hard to engage, am i the only one ?

I can’t lock it at full steering, have to turn the handle back a little like I’ve had to with every bike I’ve owned. Other than that, I have no issues.

My 701 has the same headlight as the 801 svart i think. The 801 vit is fine at night, maybe even better… Only thing I dislike about the 801 vit headlight is that it makes a weird reflection on road signs that makes you think there is a cop behind you lol.

My name is Ralf, living in the nice Westerwald near Cologne in Germany. I spontaneous bought the svartpilen in July and drove til today roundabout 2500 km's....
It's my first husky, the last 40 years I drove only italian bikes (Guzzi LeMans, Ducati SS, Monster etc), but it spends a lot of fun!!!!

The Svartpilen's headlight is sufficient for me in the city at night, but I find it too narrow, not powerful enough and doesn't illuminate the inside of curves enough on country roads.
I plan to replace it with the Denali D14 (up to 13,000 lumens for the European version). They sell it with a wiring harness, but I think the connectors will need to be adapted as it is supposed to be installed on Harleys even if they say it's universal.
 
I thought about it but when I tried it I found that it didn't go with the shape of the bike. Just personal preference. I know that on one of the custom models that was made when the svartpilen came out, they put some in the fairings but I don't have their talent to be able to get such a good result. 😅

Updates on my part, the steering lock was stiff because of the tank holder belts that were getting in the way and didn't see them, problem solved. ^^

When i picked up the bike during a hot summer day, i wasn't happy with the heat of the engine, mainly because i wasn't used to that at all with the 401... And therefore why i am gonna keep it: hot summer days and overly-crowded city commuting, (i do find the 401 more agile in that case) but now that temperatures are falling, i can say i do love that heat and seek it ! ^^

Overall the bike have been a dream and i have such pleasure riding it !

I mainly cruise at slow speeds and sometimes rev it a little more and damn, it is fast ! One thing i noticed though, on trafic circles and roundabouts, i am slightly faster (3-4km/h) with the 401 than the 801 !? Also with the 401 i was kinda always full throttle and now i have to be more gentle ! ^^
