A thread for us 801 owners, to share info and experiences. I got mine a week ago. After 500km I’m really happy with it. It’s fast (not revving over 6500rmp before the first service), the handling is great and I really like the suspension.

So far I have cleaned up the tail a little, swapped to a carbon wind screen and put on bar end mirrors. These mirrors don’t fit in a downward position.

I also bought the single seat cuts, hopefully I’ll install it tomorrow.

I ordered these today to eliminate the chimneys where the stock mirrors used to be mounted.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm considering the 801 as my next bike. As I would be new to Husky, I'm curious about aftermarket options, seeing your build is really helpful.

As I need to have some storage (day trips) I'm wondering if the rack from the 701 would still fit 🤔

I don’t think it’s going to fit. The rear frame is new.
But there are a few original luggage accessories on the Husky website. Tank bag, rear bag and side bag.
Is this one of the options you considered?

Not really. I looked at a lot of different options, but wanted to buy one where the mount isn’t welded to the slip on.

Always a challenge when a new bike model comes out and the aftermarket needs to catch up. I don't know how many Svartpilen 701s were sold, but I do see aftermarket parts for that model, so hopefully it won't bet too long 🤞🏿

1000km update. Did the 1000km service yesterday and added the “dynamic pack”. Kinda pointless to be honest. It allows you to have a custom riding mode with the traction control in 9 steps (currently riding setting 3, 9 is maximum traction), wheelie angle and to choose the throttle response. Currently using the “street throttle response.

The dynamic mode doesn’t allow you to use the super clean dashboard setting that’s available for the other riding modes.

The default riding modes have a pre set traction control, and throttle response, meaning you have to ride “sports mode” with more aggressive throttle response to have full power at low gears. It’s possible to wheelie without the dynamic pack, if you turn off traction control and turn off the rear ABS.

I still love the bike and now I’m “allowed” to rev it fully. The power is crazy, love the engine! Riding in the city I mostly use gears 1 & 2. No choppy throttle response at all. I asked my dealer about an Akra map. There isn’t one for the 801 since there’s no full exhaust system available. It also uses a different ECU (Bosch) than the 890 according to my dealer so they can’t simply import the 890 map.

Also bought a slip on from IxRace, the MIVV never arrived. The Duke 790/890 mount doesn’t fit. Need to make a new one.

The new exhaust sounds great, better than stock. Hope it's not too loud.
It’s pretty perfect for my taste. Louder than the LV10 for sure but not crazy loud. I was stopped by the cops and they gave me a speeding ticket for driving 71km/h on a 50km/h road. Was afraid they would cite me for the sound as well, but luckily they didn’t.

I did my first big trip last weekend. 1100k in two days driving from the Netherlands to the Eifel Germany. It puts the bike now up to 2700k total. I really have a blast with it.
I like the ride height en seating position (comming from a R1 6 years ago) this makes the bike very manoeuvrable and fun on the lower speeds this bike is designed for. The top speed is 232km/h by the way😉 I don’t know if it is limited to 230 but either way it has not much revs left on that speed any way.

As in the photos we hit some dirt roads cause of roadworks and with these tires it is really fun to drive on. My mate with his XSR900 and slick tires did not like it so much 😅

Speaking of the tires… they can really have a punch riding on asphalt in these twitchy roads. They didn’t gave a thing.
Looking forward to my next trip!
