I bought some plastic dip spray today to paint my radiator covers black. Looked like crap since I sprayed too thick. Will hopefully try again on Tuesday. Its supposedly an easy way to get them non permanently black.
I’ve been thinking about that but I think I’ll need a heat gun and the indents where the screws go might be hard to wrap.Alternatively, you could try a black (3M) car wrap instead; I tried it for the first time a few years ago; it's not particularly difficult.
Here a few pics from my very first attempt.

Pic from when it was drying. Let’s just say it didn’t turn out great. Will rip it off and do it again on Tuesday. I’ll have to ride with it like this tomorrow.

Second try. This plastic spray seems pretty good. I think I’ll leave the bottom plate alone, I’m guessing the exhaust will make it hot.
That remains to be seen. Not very, is my guess. I think the risk of scratching the foot rests is pretty high. I have read some reviews saying it’s quite scratch resistant but I doubt it.Much better!!
How scratch-resistant is the plastic dip coating?
