    Gas Tank Rant

Here's another 'bright side'. The rack on the Svart tank means it's easy to mount a Rotopax container for those longer rides. https://rotopax.com/

    Dzell parts

Their USB socket placement on the brake master cylinder is pretty neat, but I can't see where they are drawing power from in their pics.

There are no pics here for me, just lines of text. Is this me only or do others have the same thing?

SW-Motech PRO Tank Ring and DayBag Tank Bag on 2021 Svartpilen 401 or 701

That's a neat setup and a good looking bag for the bike. And a note of caution for shaping the alloy ring piece. Grinding aluminium on a grinding wheel is a big no-no in any workshop. The metal will clog the wheel, causing heat build up and a possible fracturing of the wheel. And when they go...

    Husqvarna 401 Oil Change

Do a web search for 'long spout measuring jug' and you'll find heaps of them much cheaper than these prices. $5 at my local auto parts store.

    Comparison Test Including the 401

Some good observations in there. They picked up my only gripes - dash and seat. They overplay the relatively small fuel tank compared to the other bikes. I'd happily swap for the Duke dash panel. The Svart one is difficult in sunlight. Another thing I had to get used to is when the fuel range...

    Output splined drive shaft, sprocket

That locking plate will stop the sprocket from sliding in/out along the shaft. I've can't add anything about movement of the shaft itself.

    Well this seems bad

That's good news - a few days of anxiety isn't fun but seeing the real problem must be a good feeling.

    Special Edition 701 Coming!

Several years ago a riding mate of mine was off riding through southern Africa, including a week in the deserts of Namibia. They came over a dune and way down in the distance there was some sort of a settlement. The tour guide was perplexed as there was nothing there before. They rode down and...

    Well this seems bad

The 'fixit' part of my brain clicked into gear before I even thought about the age of the bike. The one I repaired was a 1981 Suzuki GS, and over 20 years old when I did the repair.

    Well this seems bad

Depending on where the damage is, it's possible to repair it. I've fixed a busted case on a bike before. Thoroughly clean any oil from the area, sand it so there's a rough surface along the fault line and a finger width out from there, and patch it with metal epoxy. Depending on the type of...

    Bar end mirrors

It sounds like your mirrors have the rubber plug that tightens up inside the bar. There are other styles that screw into the bar end socket, and others like this

BIG ADVENTURE on my 2021 Svartpilen 401

The oil change on these bikes is a pain as the drain plug is hidden by the exhaust header pipe so it needs to be loosened at the motor. And there are two screens to be cleaned as well as a filter to be replaced. I was happy for the dealer to do the first one - my laziness showing through.

BIG ADVENTURE on my 2021 Svartpilen 401

What a ride. That must be the most 'baptised' Svart yet sold. :) Extra respect for this being your first bike and first time out on the road. 👍 I've tried waterproof gloves in the past and found no price will get me dry hands for more than a few hours of rain. However, my Triumph Tiger 900 has...

    Another one bites the dust

That's a sorry end to a nice bike. I guess there are many more like it inside the dealership. :(

New bike arriving tomorrow - what should I inspect when receiving it?

Assuming things in your country are as here in Australia, the sales guy will take you over the whole bike. He'll explain the operation of everything, lights, indicators, dash selection options, everything. If you have riding friends who know their stuff, ask them to go over it to check things...

    (Ir)Regular Maintenance

This was also my experience until last week. My Honda 4 stroke whipper snipper decided to not run. It would start and if I jiggle the throttle on/off fast enough it would stay running but fail as soon as I gave it full trigger. First thing was to replace the fuel line, which is known to kink in...

Have you thought about having it wrapped? A transparent plastic wrap will give good protection from stone chips.

Heavy Duty Bicycle Panniers for Storage

Those bags fit onto a frame. You can see in the video on their site that there are two clips at the top and a strap that holds the bag on the frame from flapping. My guess is that they will do for light duty, but those clips might damage the bike if they hit against anything. And you will need...

    Clear clutch cover

It's expensive for an Aliexpress item, but it's not just the cover but pressure plate and spring retainer as well - all billet machined. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001493298387.html
