I've done about 30 minutes on a Vit with the original exhaust before I bought mine about 6 years ago. Can't remember what it sounded like, but it's probably not a very big difference as long as you leave the db killer installend on the Akra.Hi Nampus,
A few questions I think you might be the right guy to answer.
- I still have the stock exhaust on my bike, does the sound really differ that much with the Akra? It's quite a steep investment just for the sound, looks like, and I quite like the looks of the standard exhaust.
- I would like to install some crash pads/frame sliders, but for this bike I only see the T-Rex ones, or Chinese made ones of questionable origin. The tailpipe and radiator stick out farthest and need protection in case of a slide, and I wonder if you might know where I'd go for this type of mod.
- I've been thinking to install a lube system for my chain, that automatically lubes, do you have experience with this?
Thanks for this, I guess you also can’t elaborate on increased performance with the Akra, but I’m guessing it would be minimal, right? The frame sliders and crash pads I can find are not very aesthetically pleasing, indeed.. If I decide to install a chain lube system I’ll keep you all updated hereI've done about 30 minutes on a Vit with the original exhaust before I bought mine about 6 years ago. I never install frame sliders on my bikes, don't like how they look, and fear they might cause more damage than they prevent. So I never looked into that.
Never used a chain lube system either, so I'm afraid I'm not much help here![]()
Thanks Alex! I agree, this stock exhaust is a thing of beauty, and it doesn’t get very hot either, which is nice when you’re around kids@Tinkmaster Fizz I think the stock exhaust looks perfect on our bikes. The Akra is bulky, and the others don't match our bike's design lines. If you want a louder exhaust, you can remove the dB killer at any time. Unfortunately, this is not reversible, as removing the dB killer requires cutting. It could also be illegal in your country. You can't see much in the attached picture, but it's the only one I have that shows it, but this is how the exhaust looks like with the dB killer removed.
How is the 15-40 setup working out for you?Not impressed with the original DID VT2 chain this time.
The original chain that was on the bike from new lasted 28.000km.
The current VT2 has been on the bike for 10.000km and needed adjusting twice in the last 400km.
Both times is was very very slack. It has even worn through the black finish on the top of the swingarm

Also found the front sprocket nut had cracked.

Replaced the nut with a second hand nut from a 690 enduro which is steel instead of aluminium.

Have ordered a new chain and sprockets.
Going for 15-40 instead of 15-41 this time.
And ordered a Regina HPE chain.
If there is any increased performance from that akra it will be 1 or 2 hp at most, and you need to be pretty special to be able to notice 1 or 2 hpThanks for this, I guess you also can’t elaborate on increased performance with the Akra, but I’m guessing it would be minimal, right? Next up for me is checking my front sprocket nut, as last time I did that, it was completely loose and your post about your cracked one has me slightly apprehensive..
Haven't ridden the bike since replacing the chain and sprockets. But I'm sure it'll be fine. I've done over 20k km with 16-42 and this will be very similar. 15-41 was sometimes just a tad too short for my liking. So this should suit me better. How is the 15-40 setup working out for you?
Hey Nampus! Very nice to see, super informative! Let me know what you think about those Bridgestones, I’m running them too and have zero remarks. They feel nice and grippy! What tire pressures are you running? After my day trip to the Ardennes Wednesday the Husky is now at 40.739km which means it's time for a valve clearance check (and some other stuff)
So opened her up:

All four valves still within spec, so no need for adjustment
Closed up again:

Then it was time for some fresh rubber:

Rear was first, fresh Bridgestone S22
Front was next: View attachment 7188

I'll try and get the oil changed on Monday, and I want to clean and re oil the air filter.
I've ordered new spark plugs, but they haven't showed up yet.
Interesting.. I’m at 2,5 and 2,9..I've had S22's before, they are my favourite tyre so far. Love how they feel!
I've got them on my Triumph as well.
I run them at 2,4 front and 2,5 rear.
Hey Nampus, as we’re a bit farther down the line, I was wondering how you like the setup now you’ve had the chance to ride it a bit moreIf there is any increased performance from that akra it will be 1 or 2 hp at most, and you need to be pretty special to be able to notice 1 or 2 hp
