I was riding my 801 yesterday here in Sweden around a lake. All of a sudden I see two guys with cameras by the road side waving. One had a blue T-shirt on. Then I met another 801 a few 100 meters up the road. I turned around, gave them a little poor wheelie then stopped to talk to them. It was a Husky press team having a photo shoot of the new “Pilen” clothing line. Pretty cool. None of them were from Sweden and the bike was from Austria.

Hi, happy to be on the Forum from Ottawa, Canada. Have put a deposit down a few months ago when the 801 was announced, and I just followed-up with my dealership this week. Apparently they have cleared all government homologations here, and might be landing shortly. No exact ETA yet. Allotments are definitely to consider, as the dealership I'm dealing with only had 5 units allocated (in Toronto), and the dealership closest to me maybe one for later in the year... We shall see, but my Norden (which I love BTW) is longing a sibling now that I have parted with my Svartpilen 401!

So funny that you should bump into another 801.
I once had a rare bike. Not long after I got it, I came up behind another one.
The funny thing was that I never saw another one the entire time that I owned it.
It was an Aprilia Scarabeo 500. Incredible looking but terrible to ride. I got hit and it was destroyed.

Kinda cool to bump into the press team on one of my favorite local roads. The press team wondered why they hadn’t seen another 801 in the wild except mine. I told them it wasn’t that strange since my dealer only got three of them and the it’s 500km to the next dealer.

I loved the 401 as well. Yes, it’s noticeable. It’s still nible but steadier on the freeway and at higher speeds.

I saw a comparison of the 801 and 790. It said the 790 had steeper geometry and was more nimble and the 801 was more stable but still handles well.
If handling were the only consideration I might choose the 790, it's way cheaper, but it's looks can't compare.
To me it sounds like BS marketing imho. You expect some differences due to the different seating positions so the riders imagine differences that aren’t there. All I can see in the geo chart is a 0.5* head angle difference. The wheelbase is the same and we know the swing arm and the suspension travel is the same. That means it’s impossible that there are any significant difference's to the geometry. According to Motobob there’s only a 3kg difference wet vs wet.

That’s how little 0.5* is. It won’t make a difference to the handling. Moving up the handlebars does more of a difference.

Exactly, one could venture to say all those bikes have the same actual angle on the frame and that only the forks / springs are tuned differently resulting in different geometry...

I have seen it. I don’t buy it. It’s the difference in seating position, not the frame that makes a difference. Less weight on the front will make the same effect. I have played a lot with my MTB geometry, and changing the effective stack (height of the bars) will make the same difference in handling. That doesn’t mean the frame geometry is different.

I recently jacked up the preload on my shock to 10. It definitely changed the handling, for the better. It steepened the front end geometry. If I want more I can slide the triple clamps down the fork legs.
I do some mountain biking, but I'm mostly a roadie. I just got an Intense 951 XC MTB.
Changing the seating position definitely has and effect on handling. I'm continually tweaking the fit of my bicycles to get more performance out of my body. You can't adjust a motorcycle to the same degree as you can a bicycle. It would be neat if you could though.

Lots of 801s available in Sweden now.
There was one dealer who sold 60 !! 2023 401 Svarts for €3500 a pop. That’s going to mess up the entire second hand market for the previous gen 401. Lycky for me I traded in my 401 for €4800 in May.

Bonjour d'Ottawa ! That's what I heard from my dealership about 10 days ago, that they should get the first ones next week. But until they have their hands on them, I only remain moderately hopeful... So waiting for a phone call early next week maybe.

E3500 a pop, wow, a spectacular deal. Not the latest and greatest but still a great bike.
I saw 801s for $10.900 and 2024 401s for $5900 on CycleTrader here in the US.
Brand new 2023 401s are super cheap.
