Hello my friends, I would like to change my exhaust for an old model before 2020, does anyone know what the black box on the left (front view) of the original pot is for? can it be removed if I change the exhaust?
I have just finished changing my vitpilen handlebars for a high model, I reused the upper fork plate by screwing supports, I had to lengthen the electric cables (about 15 cm), change the cable clutch for a Svartpilen model and I modify the routing of the front brake hose. I like the result :)

Yeah, I watched a vid where a Vitpilen owner swapped bar and top triple clamp with a Svartpilen owner. The cables of the Vitpilen weren;'t long enough to use the Svartpilen bar. Instead of lengthening the cables he just used a bar with less rise.

What do you mean by " I reused the upper fork plate by screwing supports..."? Did you drill and tap the stock top triple clamp?

Yes i do and cut the support of former clip-on handlebar
My new handlebar has less rise compare to the the original svartpilen one, but even I had to lengthen the cables because they would have been too tight, it would not have been a good job

I like what you did, it shows great resourcefulness., using what you already had and not merely buying a new top triple clamp.

I probably drove through Olivet on A20 going from Paris to Spain in 1998. I was in France to see the Tour de France.

If you have a GoPro you should do a video of the roads in your area.

I like to do it myself instead to buy, but it takes a lot of time...and thought.
You are right, during your trip to France you drove through Olivet, the next time make a stop, we can taste together a pear liqueur, a specialty of the region.
Does anyone know the function of this black box under the engine? Can i remove it if i change the exhaust for a former one ?

Thank you. I would love to visit France again.

I'm in Southern California in the vicinity of Malibu. I bicycled today with an Englishman who said it's every Englishman's dream to rent a Harley and ride the canyon roads of Malibu and the Pacific Coast Highway.

I don't know what that black box is.

If the electric cables are not extended, the harness is much too tight as in your photo. With time (I am retired !!) and thoroughness it is doable

Before drilling and tapping I glued an aluminum plate under the clamp with epoxy.
When i bought the risers they were too high, i cut them in half

Catalitic converter..

here is what I did a few years ago on my Vit:

Dont think I would do it again because of the cable harness mess..
Got me a Svart instead..
The black box Phillip is referring to is not the cat which is just to the right of the black box in the photo. It looks like a snake that swallowed a rabbit, the rabbit being the cat. Rather it is guard to protect the cat ,the exhaust under the bike and the oil sump.

There appears to be some sort of vent grill at both top front of the box and the trailing edge under the bike. ?

It could be that (y), the title of part 29 of the partlist below is not explicit. When I will replace my exhaust pipe with an older model, I will remove this part which reduces the ground clearance and certainly weighs a few pounds
I wanted a Vit, would choose it over a Svart even if they were available.

Same for me, i like colour, wheels....Before buying it I knew that I would change the handlebars, but not so high that the Svart. I run road and city not off road!

Another guy buying a Vit and going through all the trouble of putting on a riser bar.

It begs the question, why does Husqvarna bother with the Vit? I've asked myself that question before from the comments I get from other riders when they see my Vit. Husq would be better off allocating more production to the Svart. Perhaps in other countries there is a stronger demand for clipons.

I like the colors on the latest Svart but the colors of the Vit make it stand out in a sea of black bikes.

I love the color of the Vit's wheels. A friend who had some expensive wire wheels built for his BMW commented on how pretty the Vit's wheels were.

True the white 18/19 edition of the Vit is beautiful but in Costa Rica the choices are limited so you go with whats available. I've put enduro bars on mine (and dual purpose tires) to be able to ride on dirt roads as well.
Sold it last year..
