Vitpilen Exhaust 2021 and handlebar replacement

Hello my friends, I would like to change my exhaust for an old model before 2020, does anyone know what the black box on the left (front view) of the original pot is for? can it be removed if I change the exhaust?
I have just finished changing my vitpilen handlebars for a high model, I reused the upper fork plate by screwing supports, I had to lengthen the electric cables (about 15 cm), change the cable clutch for a Svartpilen model and I modify the routing of the front brake hose. I like the result :)

That protection plate sucks if you ride all year around like I do. Mine is full of gravel now. I’ve fried to figure out a solution to get rid of the gravel without dismounting it, but I think I’ll just end up taking it off.

Looks like it would be easy to right angle bend a piece of sheet metal over it. There are already some threaded holes in the front to attach it with screws.
However, it does look like the factory wanted some venting here, so probably better to keep the gravel cleared out, put a finer screen over the top or, as you said, just take it off.

I had asked the question about the usefulness of this black box, without answer. On reflection, I think it's a protection so as not to crush the exhaust pipe which passes under the engine. As I don't jump sidewalks in tawn or ride off-road, I removed the box and the protective sheet ;) It looks better and i save mass

That’s why I uploaded the photo and I figured you came to that conclusion since you had it removed. :) Mine has been hit a few times so I’ll keep it.
