Vitpilen Exhaust 2021 and handlebar replacement

Same for me, i like colour, wheels....Before buying it I knew that I would change the handlebars, but not so high that the Svart. I run road and city not off road!

Interesting. You want to install a pre 2020 exhaust on yours? To re route it on top? There is a heavily discounted 18/19 Akrapovic slipon avail here though I would have to change the header as well or adapt the mounting..

You being a 401 rider for a few years, did you ever have trouble with the wheel spokes coming loose?

There's no dirt to ride legally where I live but there are gobs of tight, twisty mountain roads in the Santa Monica Mountains surrounding Malibu. The Rock Store is 10 minutes from home.
 
Had a flat once on the rear, was a pain as I was deep in the woods so I had to have it towed to get the tube replaced.. no issues with spokes though.
Strangely enough my '20 Svart has cast wheels..🤔

Does my 2022 Vit have tubes? There's no mention of tubes in the online owners manual.

There is a section about "tire repair spray" aka fix-a-flat. It says that after using it to ride slowly and carefully and to have the tire replaced.
Have the tire replaced, nothing about a tube.

Bicycles now have tubeless tires. The spokes are in the center of the rim and a special rim strip makes them airtight.
I reckon that's how it's done on the Vitpilen where the spokes are in the center of the rim and not on the edges of the rim.

Yeah that fix-a-flat didnt cut it that time though I tried..
I had Bridgestone dual-purpose tires installed when I bought it so they must've put tubes. I had no choice but to change it when I saw that 3 inch nail still embedded into it..
 
Hey! I was also wondering what that part next to the exhaust was for, but apparently it has not other purpose than protecting your engine. As someone previously mentioned, this would be position 29 from the exhaust section and this would be part number 94305065033 HEAT PROTECTION CMPL.

So I believe if your going to change the exhaust to the previous version so you win a couple of inches from the ground, maybe there is an smaller skid plate you can get to still have something that guards the engine. I'm going this way in a coupe of months, please let me know what you find out. I will report back if I find any good skid plates.

Does anyone know why they changed the exhaust position?

I know that the 390 motor once suffered from overheating. If that's the reason then it's a pretty good reason.
 
Soo I took out my stock muffler and quite like the sound. Am contemplating a few ideas for a stubby exhaust which would add a bit of grunt and restriction.

I have just finished changing my vitpilen handlebars for a high model, I reused the upper fork plate by screwing supports, I had to lengthen the electric cables (about 15 cm), change the cable clutch for a Svartpilen model and I modify the routing of the front brake hose. I like the result :)

Hey mate, how long did it take you to lengthen the cables and change the clutch cable. I’m being quoted 13 hours by a local mechanic

I had looked into buying a Vit instead of Svart because they seemed a bit more available, but a bar conversion by the dealer was going to be prohibitively expensive and the home conversions I saw looked like the DIYer struggled and wound up with something very short of factory in appearance. Glad I held out for the Svart.

With the dedicated kit, you can do it yourself in 3 hours max.
I bought a Vit in Belgium and got the handlebar kit for free. Might be selling it because I like the vit geometry
