The Vit 701 suspension thread

I’m resurrecting this thread because I’m not happy with the suspension on my 2019 Svartpilen. The front seems really harsh whenever I hit any sort of serious road imperfections. The bike handles fine, and corners well. I’m used to a BMW GSA with Ohlins or Traxxion. They would just float over bumps and potholes. The Svart is nothing but harsh. I’m on the big side, 6’4” and 240lbs ready to ride.
I’ve read what Max has done. Has anyone else come up with a great suspension solution for the front and rear?

Ray R,
Check out the tyre pressure thread, I am about to post there...
Yeah, I’ve messed with tire pressure. I can’t tell much difference. One of the features that attracted me to the Svartpilen was the 18” front wheel I assumed would provide a bit more plush ride vs the Vitpilen.

Yes, mine came with a red ring on each leg. It hasn’t bottomed out yet.

Put the bike on a stand with the front wheel off the ground and measured from the bottom of the wiper seal to the red ring? Total travel for a Svart should be 150mm..

The fork inner legs are most likely longer than the available travel.

Not sure how much you have left for tread, but next time you need rubbers, maybe a different brand / type will help before you decide drop moneyz suspension tuning.

So it seems no one has found any transformative aftermarket suspension products?
Then I’ll make an appointment with a local WP expert and see what he can do.

What do you mean “no one has found”?

There’s quite a few people that changed the suspension on their Vit or Svart, with great results.

Other than you, I haven’t seen anyone who’s said “I have xxx fork cartridges, and a nnn rear shock, and they transformed the bike completely.”

Again, this is a 701 thread, and a 401 holds maybe little comparison...
I have hyperpro springs / oil in the stock open cartridges and hyperpro rear shock, and it transformed the bike completely.
🤠

I know plenty people that dropped Andreani cartridges in the forks and or installed a different rear shock. Or experimented with different weight and level of fork oil.

They may respond in this thread with their experience.

The Vit/Svart community is a bit scattered between this forum, the old one, and facebook groups.
