Svartpilen 801 soon to be a reality.

Wow... that's what I call a discount 👀
It appear that they then may have a price for early adopters? Makes sense but I feel those difference on prices are quite large. It would be taking too much advantage of the situation. But again... it make sense

I sure wanted a Vit 401 back in 2019 but the price plus shipping, $7799, was just too much. It would have been $10,000 out the door.

The CB300R was $6000 out the door. If I knew that 401s were going to blown out for $3888 at the end of the year I would have waited but there's no way to predict such things.

I paid list price $5399 plus $700 for my 2022 Vit. Now they are selling $4699. I feel kind of bad about that but I'm so glad that I finally have one.

This catch my attention. There are very few images where you can see how the seat is at the front part. At some images you can see how the seat front is pretty high, growing up attached to the tank, similar to the Yamaha MT07 solution.

But this image appear to show something very different. It's like the seat ends before the tank starts and then there is a... patch on the tank?

Kind of like it... I think :)
Very good eye catch from you. I really love the low tank line of the X-Pilen design. This would be more like a Duke or mainly all over motorcycles out there.
I like to sit on top and not in a motorcycle maybe because of my time growing up with motocross.

Yonsoon is right, here in Italy they are talking about 11.500 euro approximately.

Ciao

If the price is finally that high I understand then why the dealer had only 3 orders for the entire year.
I guess they don't expect then to compete against the MT07 on sales. Not even close.

With all this 801/901 rumors and presentations I asumed that the next pilens would be just the Dukes 790/890.

But I was reviewing now the last interview Stefan Pierer made in India media some months ago, saying that they will finally switch to a 2 cilinder 650/690 cc, as a result of a LC8 downsize. This engine was supposed to be manufactured in India, and they were expecting to hit the dealers at 2025.
That will give us a range of new engines covering 125, 200, 250, 400, 650, 800, 900, 1000 and 1300 cc., and that would make sense.

If they take out the 650 cc. they are really missing a very important growing market segment, and I don't see that happening.

I think maybe I will wait and in the meanwhile I will start looking for a cheap 701 pilen 😌

It wouldn't surprise me if production of the 801s is shifted to China or India after a couple of years.

Then their price will fall in line with the segment.

I would expect them to have all the goodies that the other bikes in the segment don't have, just like the 401s do.

Source?

Why is everybody so surprised about the pricing?
The Vit/Svart 701's were dressed up Duke 690's and more expensive. The new 801/901 will be a dressed up Duke 790/890 so will be more expensive than that.
It's not there to compete with something budget like a MT07. My guess is it'll be closer to the MT09SP .

For example:
2018 KTM 690 Duke price in the Netherlands: €10.120
2018 Husky Vitpilen 701: €11.950

So the new Husky will probably be priced somewhere around the Duke890R is my guess.

2018 Vitpilen 701: 11.950€!? :o :o :o :o Holy Duck! That was not the price in my country.
If I remember correctly the most expensive price was the Svartpilen 701 Style with a price of 9.999€.
I remember being at the dealer to buy a Vitpilen 701 2020 and the price was 9.490€

Maybe the dealers have a couple of thousends as extra margin and they use it depending on the country?

Well, that was not secret news. Kind of noisy as they were cancelling what it was the next collaboration with Bagag and then they switch (or pretend to switch) to his newer partner CFMoto.
In fact, the supposedly cancelled 450cc engine is apparently the one powering the 450cc segment of CFMoto bikes. Basically 47cv. The max for the intermediate license in a big part of the market.
The main reason for that "change-no change" of the production country seems to be the low acceptance of "made in China" products in India and even more, the difficulty for any producer to sell motorbikes not "made in India" specifically in the popular market segments.

You can find the entire interview to Stefan Pierer here:

The extract of the interview about the new platform is on the part one:

"AC: Will all future middleweight KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS twin-cylinder models be made in China?

SP: That’s the plan – they’ll be made in China, and the premium bikes here in Austria. I distinguish between premium and entry-level middle-class models. The more price competitive models are coming from China, and the premium bikes are coming from here. But I was in India in January, and it seems now even the twin-cylinder bikes can also be made there, which is very helpful.

AC: I thought your future strategy had been for CFMOTO to concentrate on producing twin-cylinder middleweight models, and Bajaj in India the single-cylinder models?

SP: Yes, that was our strategy for a while. But for sure in the next two years, the twins will also be made in India, too.

AC: Will this be the RC490 500cc parallel-twin that you’ve been working on for some years?

SP: No, it’ll be the 790 – why should I reinvent everything from scratch?! Maybe they’ll name it the 690 or whatever like BMW, but that’s not an issue. Chinese products don’t have any chance in India, where they have to have an Indian provenance. If you show up with a Chinese-made model, forget it. The 500 class, for me, is not an interesting category anymore, so we stopped the RC490 because we are bringing the 790 down a little bit. We’re talking about the 690 or 650 – and that’s better for marketing, because more is always better than less! Also, its pricing is always an issue. It’s easier to make a satisfactory price tag with a 650 model compared to a 500. A 500 is an entry-level bike."

EDIT: Sorry I forgot the links for the rest of the info. It's not 100% consistent as the availability of the models on the dealers is from end 2024 to "at some point" of 2026

It's mostly taxes. Denmark is even worse.
But because the Vitpilens weren't very popular, (a premium big single is quite niche) I bought mine new in 2019 for €9250 with the Akra included.
😁

Interesting, thanks! A little contradictory. I guess that means the 801’s are premium models. But the Duke 790 (almost the same bike?) isn’t.

Think I was very luck in the uk to get my new vit for £7k , this was when they had stopped making them and were wanting to offload the remaining stock.

True! Difficult to know what really is the deal. But if the information is correct, the factories in India are already on the 650cc twin engine... who knows!

Could be

790 - standard fork and brakes
801 - better fork, brakes and all the tech included

I don’t have that much of a problem paying the price to trade my 2022 Svart 401 for a new Svart 801. My biggest issue is going from €25/month in insurance costs to €80/month. 😂

I don’t get how this saddle layout is a good thing, but daaaamn the bike looks great! It looks like a 701 on steroids.
