Svartpilen 801 soon to be a reality.

Unfortunately you are probably right about the bars since it will make production easier. Depending on where they put the pegs might be able to throw some woodcrafts on it. I hope they keep the caliper bolt spacing the same as the 790 so I can throw some cheap used brembo m50s on it.

My 701 has the 790 lowers and the m50s bolt right up. If it uses the same standard smaller full steel center brake discs as the 790 that’s an easy upgrade too using 701 caliper spacers and 320 disks.

Looking at the pictures it definitely has the steel small 790 disks. I had a set when I was mocking up my build and I feel like one of them was heavier than both 320 discs I got off a super duke.

If that’s the tank shape they are going for, that might be a reason for not using clip ons. It doesn’t look like clipons will fit on the top of the fork without hitting the tank.

Edit: Does the 790 have a steering damper? I can see one in the picture above.

Good point about the tank design, another reason to dislike it. I feel like they had a hard time with this design not making it too “KTM” with the shoulders hunched forward insect look.

Oh and give me clip ons on the Vit, if you throw normal bars on it what’s the difference with the Svart? The little fly screen and a bash plate? Hope there are a few changes from the “spy shots” to set them apart. Otherwise it feels like the difference between them will be “bold new graphics”.
I second that about the clip ons.

I tgink the front will remain like on the spy pictures, the back will change .....i think they took it from a Svartpilen 701.

To me the rear subrame and tail casting looks unique to the new model, if you look closely it comes up and over behind the seat, the casting on the 701s doesn’t do that, the rider seat and tail cover or passenger seat connect directly to each other.

Someone on Reddit seems sure of himself.
If the name will be 801, then it won’t have the 890 motor, that’s for sure.

I think the biggest give away it’s an 801 is the front brakes. They are obviously inferior to the 890 brakes and are identical to the 790…. No point in using the 890 engine if your going to use the 790 brakes making it inferior to the 890…

Probably more room to mark up the 790 cost too, it’s so reasonable. If they marked up the 890 it would push it into liter bike pricing…

Looks like from what I’ve seen the husqvarna showing for EICMA is “bold new graphics”. So basically nothing

I think the 990 could answer the 801 vs 901 question though. The prototype obviously does not use the 990 engine and since the 990 is replacing the 890 then it has to be a 790 in the husqvarna

The 890 is still used in other models than the Duke for 2024 though.

Edit: Duke 890 is discontinued but there’s still a KTM 890 Adventure.

The Swedish motorcycle fair is 26-28th of January. Is it a possibility that they will release new models there?

At this point they need to either release it or give it up, there have been 3 different middle weight dukes since the 701 was first announced.. If Yamaha brings the xsr 900 Gp to the states I’ll probably go that route rather than wait for a vitpilen.

Ain’t much happening here it seems. Still waiting to see if there will be a 801 I can buy when spring comes.
