Hi guys,

I really fell in love with my Svart801 and I know, that I am pushing the bike hard to its last horse ;o) There is something satisfying and fun to ride fast on "slow" bike.

From factory the Pilen is set to lowest preload on the rear and I think, that almost nobody during the reviews on YT, etc., set up the right preload. If you did not do that also, please DO IT, it really change the bike and let the shock work withing complete range.

With my 98kg naked I am almost on right SAG with max preload (just a little on the soft side). And the bike feels much more sporty. The front is without preload adjuster, but for my weight I am on same "almost on right SAG". So quite ok. Anyway I feel, for my riding style, that the suspension upgrade would help the bike. It is more an idea, because is not necessary. (for example I had Triumph Bonneville 1200 on complete Ohlins, brake discs and calipers from Brembo, etc ... even it does not make sense, because it still was a classic bike, even much sportier - surprising for some guys on supersports :ROFLMAO:, and not a sport bike).

I had really great luck for the price I have bought my Svart from the offical dealer, so there is some space in my budget.

There is no special type for Svartpilen in Ohlins catalogue. So can I take suspension dimensions for 790 Duke? I know, that front forks are better on Svart, not sure about the rear, but dimensions should be same???

Front forks inserts type

NIX 30 Street Cartridge Kit FKS 509

Rear shock type

STX 46 Street KT 789

Does anybody made this swap?

Thanks!

You don’t have compression setting on your fork? I am confused. I weight about the same as you, a little higher even and I think the fork is great.

I have no idea if a 790 fork will fit. The 801 supposedly has the same suspension as the Duke 990 but with different inners.

Sorry, but with about 76kg I definitely can't help with that... 😁

OK... I went the same way like you with my Harley XR1200; rear Ohlins shocks and front Andreani caridge kit; and also with the BMW ninet; rear Ohlins shock und front swap to complete Ohlins forks; and it made indeed a huge difference.

Did you also check the optional Husqvarna WP suspension upgrades that will fit the 801?

Sure I have compression on my fork(s). But there is no spring preload.

I asked my dealer, so I will let you know.

Hi guys ...

I am back in thinking about new suspension. Firstly I had an idea to sell Svartpilen and buy something "more". But I end up with "there is nothing as good as Svartie in same price dimension" and find only 2 solutions - 1) buy Duke 990R or 2) upgrade suspension. I have more bikes and 990R will cost twice more than Svart and I still have the top class Tuono.

Long story short - I asked some companies and I am waiting to have all offers. Slight risk I see, that there is almost nothing directly for Svart. Is anybody sure, that what fits 790 Duke (any year??) will fit Svartpilen?

Thank you.

Oh, great. I would like to do mainly the rear shock. The 7746 should fit. I hope. KTM has it listed on their websites like Duke790/Svartpilen801. Looks like it is adequate quality as Ohlins STX46 KT790. I will see, if I can get some discount somewhere. I also quote K-Tech and ... eeeee ... the English one ... forgot the name ...
