Hi. I'm going to get a 2024 Svartpilen. I'm in love with the look of it and it gets great reviews everywhere, literally not 1 bad review! I have never ridden a motorcycle though. I have a 4 day novice course coming in late June. I plan to buy myself a gift for passing. I have 1 more road test to do after but I'll have a motorcycle to practice on.

Congrats and thanks for sharing.

You just reminded me about my gift to myself for passing the course and starting my riding career decades ago: an excellent helmet, paying a couple hundred more than I originally intended.

Not being thrifty on gear is a wise investment. You’re more comfortable, feel safer, it lasts longer… spending closer to my limit of affordability has been worth it every time.

Regardless, let us know what your gift is and how the course went!

Awesome! Just make sure if you should do any mods like adding a k&n air filter or Dna air filter or the dna kit to first look into fuel fuel optimizer's such as a " fuelx" or fuelx pro plus" something like that.Don't want to harm your beautiful bike; )

Yes, that’s a good note. I wouldn’t want the bike running any leaner than it does from the factory.

I’m also in the camp of ensuring any mods are easily reversible while it’s still under warranty, like removing the FuelX and reinstalling the original air filter. If you have any serious issues, being able to restore it to factory condition could be the difference in getting a warranty claim accepted. Which is why I’m not doing any of the more involved mods like cat-delete or exhaust upgrades until my warranty has expired.

Thanks for the advice!

Ya good idea. I plan to keep the mods minimal.

I added the official Husqvarna crash bars and some third party bar-end mirrors. They won’t impact warranty because they can’t impact the performance of the bike. Neither will replacing tires if they’re the recommended dimensions. Anything that alters the engine, fueling, exhaust, transmission, suspension, brakes or wheels could be blamed for something going wrong.

I had a buddy lose out on an expensive warranty claim with Honda because he forgot to put the original sprocket back on before taking it in. They couldn’t rule out that changing the bike’s gear ratio as a contributing factor.

Anyways, I’m installing a FuelX Lite with a DNA air filter after my 1,000 km break-in service. If my bike needs any work after that, I’ll uninstall the FuelX and swap the paper filter back in before taking to the dealership.

…bonus shoutout to the official Svartpilen/Duke crash bars. I’m so glad I paid the extra money because they look so good.

And those third-party bars do not look bad. They’re all quite decent, but the KTM/Husqy bars are perfection.

The Saturday I went down to the dealership to pick up my new bike, there were two 401s in for oil changes/break-in service. I got to see side-by-side my bike with no crash bars, one with third-party bars (a set I was considering) and one with the official bars.

No contest. Like you said above: “look like they came with the bike.” And now when I see photos of a stock 401, it looks like something is missing.

Well said, all crash bars are good but the Husky ones just are perfection! Next on the list of minor mods is lever guards.
