Has anyone tried the 20-21 to 18-19 exhaust conversion kit by Projekt Racing?

I actually bought all this stuff separately, but haven't started the project of installing it yet.
I bought an ebay header and cat, and a used chamber delete, so it was cheaper but took some searching.
ANd I bought new gaskets from the local dealer.
You will also likely want a new skid plate, unless you intend to run without any.
It is nice to get it all in a kit though!
And then there is the rejetting problem. If you do the cat and chamber delete you will ned to do something with your fueling.

Also be aware there are some interesting kits on aliexpress... quality is mixed though.

Also, have you seen these threads...?

Thanks for the info.
I think I'm going to get the Coober ECU/ airbox cover first then decide if I want to go down that route.
I'm sure some Svartpilen owners would love to get the kit for the extra ground clearance.

Price isn't bad. I wanted to keep the cat but delete the chamber. I was able to buy all the header, cat, exhaust from eBay, gaskets from husqvarnapartspro.com, the chamber delete from AOMC and evap delete kit from SmartMoto.
Here are my costs:
Header+Cat = 125
Gaskets and clamps = 55
Chamber delete = 200
Exhaust = 105
Evap delete 39
TOTAL = 524

I’ve got a ‘21 Svart that I’ll be doing this very same mod to as well with the goal of extra ground clearance. Got the stock exhaust, cat, resonator and slip in on eBay. Got the cat delete from Competition Werkes. As soon as the ordered clamps and gaskets come in from the dealer, I’m going to complete this mod. My only concern with the ‘18-‘19 exhaust system is if I’ll be introducing the heat stroke issue due to the proximity of the cat delete to the engine once installed. Anyone on here have any info on the heat soak issue?

@HuskyGabe i thought about the same issue, but figured that the design of the 18-19 exhaust was used on the duke and husky for many years and if it were that big of an issue there would be many more reports of it. From what I can tell the change to the 20-21 routing was mainly due to Euro 5 emissions requirements which added the extra cat in the header pipe. So far there are some heat soak reports but not enough to be worried about.
I did do the dei engineering titanium 1"x15' wrap on the header just in case and also to hide some of the metal patina that was on the used header I bought.

With the cat installed on the 2019, you can notice that the bikes ecu responds to the heat when stopping at lights and in slow in traffic and adjusts accordingly.

Again, the bike was designed like that and it worked for more than 15 years.

Wow what a difference guys! I love the ground clearance and overall sound since I removed the cat. Haven’t ridden it yet but looking forward to real soon. The resonator was a pain to put on, and I wasn’t able to get the spacer tube back on, too much of a pain. So I’m now tempted to get the pipe to replace the resonator, we’ll see. Took me a better part of the day to replace everything. Spent most of my time rerouting a few lines and wiring as well as trying to get the resonator on/off. Thanks again. Hey @Vintage Veloce, If by evap valve you mean the blue terminaled wire harness with two rubber tubes hooked up to it, then yes. I had to move it since it was in the way of where the catless pipe was to go. I just unbolted it from its mount and secured it out of the way. This is the only pic I have of the other side. Will take better ones soon.

Nice.
I would recommend against going without the resonater.

My comp werkes resonator delete got the least amount of use of any pipe I tested.

I didnt like the sound and the performance with cat delete was less awesome. (Probably why they dont sell it that way anymore)

Which muffler do you plan to use?

Thanks for the suggestion @BISavage. It did get louder with the cat delete, which is quite enough for me. I’m thinking I’m going to go with the Coffman Exhaust. I like the deeper sound to it once the DB killer is removed. One question, how’d you get the bottom of the resonator bolt lined up with that metal tube? I couldn’t do it so I just put the bolt in without the tube but noticed some play with the resonator.

I had it in and off about a hundred times (exaggerated), I lubed the bushings good so it could move easily back and forth, then threaded the screws the top two bushings to the frame, with the header and cat pipe loose.
After than then you can muscle the resonator around a bit within the bushing play the until it sits nice, then the bolt normally lines up perfect.
Sometimes it took me 45 minutes, sometimes 5.

@BISavage which combination did you end up with. I have the '18 exhaust conversion with oem cat with comp werkes chamber delete pipe and oem exhaust. I'm considering removing the exhaust and going with a shorty pipe to further reduce weight but wondering if that would decrease the performance. I also don't want to get to the point where I need to add an ecu.

This is the shorty pipe I'm looking at, basically a pro-race knock off.

Sound wise, I am happy with my current configuration. It is just loud enough and even has some crackle and pops when coming off throttle. I image it would get even louder without the exhaust pipe. I was considering taking the end cap off and cutting the DB killer if it wasn't loud enough, but so far I don't see a need to do that yet.
