Fender Eliminator

To modify the outer contour I used a stationary belt sander and a mini file belt sander.
The correction of the mounting angle is done by milling.

It was probably a bit misleadingly so far...

Yes, I modified a 1290 tail tidy by sanding, grinding and milling it.

what does the inside of the subframe look like where the screws for the tail tidy come in

There's some plastic from the battery tray and the cables and connectors of the taillight and the indicators.

Are all the screws screwed from the outside? I’m guessing the space inside the subframe is pretty tight.

I just got an email from Evotech about tail tidy for the 801. No plans as of right now, they have not had a bike available at the workshop to develop a tail tidy.

They have not had a bike available?
Here a pic from the Evotech installation video how to assemble their 801 crash protection.

...🙃

If it would be your decision, what would you develop first?
A crash protection (that some people want), or a nice tail tidy (that about everybody with an 801 wants)?

My guess:
The problem with the high exhaust and the relatively wide original indicators; a heat shield is very likely unavoidable.
The angle of the license plate should not be too flat (it should be 30°; 35° to 40° would be acceptable) and at the same time the arm should not be too long.
In total it's not a "quick and easy" job to develop a proper solution; and so far only very few 801s have been sold.
Is it worth the effort if possibly only very few tail tidies would be sold?

maybe if we all write an email to evotech they will finally make a tail tidy for the 801 :)

I think that’s a good guess. On the other side, there are lots of tailtidys available for the 790 that melt the indicators so some providers don’t seem to care about that issue.
