Hi guys!

I bought my Svartpilen 801 yesterday and WOW! I fell in love with the bike :o)

I have a question to slip-on/exhaust.

There is just a few videos on the YT so I don´t have much impression, how it would sound in the reality. Because there is no full system available and Husqvarna does not have a map for de-cat, only possibility is slip-on. Original ones - Akrapovic and Remus - sounds almost like stock one, so almost no benefit. Another option is Arrow. My friend is a dealer, but has no experience on Svart 801 and with Euro 5+, probable the DB killer is welded in. Honestly I want at least some better sound for my money.

Has anybody some experience? The short IXIL from another thread sounds ok, but I don´t like the design.

Thanks,
Ondrej

Hi Ondrej, congrats to the new bike! To get an idea, you could also check some Duke 790/890 videos; there are lots of them on youtube.
It seems most of the Duke 790/890 exhausts will also fit the 801; with some you'll just need a custom exhaust hanger.
From my understanding all Euro 5 and 5+ exhaust do need a welded DB-killer to be homologated.
But you could also check earlier Euro 4 exhausts that fit the Duke 790/890; or you buy an exhaust / a muffler without any homologation.

Here a webfind / Duke SC-Project exhaust fitted to the 801.

Hi Tom, that is a very good (and logic, why I did not get it by myself ) idea!

On my Tuono V4 1000 Factory (2023 - E5) I have a complete system from Akrapovic and DB killer was on a screw. Truth is, that is for racing purpose only ...

I go check some videos. Thanks!

On the end the idea was not so briliant :-D Duke 790 is older bike with older Euro norm, which means, that I can not compare the sound apples to apples (as we say here).

The older Euro 4 Duke 790 (-2020) exhausts will also fit the newer Euro 5 Dukes 790/890; and also the 801.
Both (the Euro 4 and the Euro 5 Dukes) have a nearly identical premuffler with a catalyst; they should be quite comparable.
So until you want it to be 100% street legal (with a Euro 5+ exhaust), you can go with a Euro 4 exhaust and can delete the db-killer more easily; or you go with a not homologated exhaust. ...still brilliant (y)😁

Sorry my apologies Arrows is a mid pipe, thought it was full system..

No, it seems you're right. Arrow also has a 790 down pipe that may also fit the 801; together with the 801 mid pipe (with the addional Euro 5+ sensor plug) and the 801 muffler (or with one of the Euro 4 or Euro 5 Duke 790 mufflers) it would be a full system.

Question is, what it would make with the bike, when there is no map available. I

Anyway the decision was made - Arrow muffler for 801. If there will be a map in the future? i will by the rest.

Thank you guys

It already exists...

I’m running IXrace + K&N + FuelX Pro+. Bike runs great. The FuelX has fixed the issue with the bike dying on me. You can use Duke 790 mufflers but you’ll need another bracket, the 790 mount is in a different placement than the 801.

Hi guys, the Arrow exhaust will come tomorrow.

Because all the new bikes are running lean, does that mean, that when I install the exhaust (just the slip-on muffler), that I should install the KN air filter also? I mean - more air out, more air in? sounds logical, but I think it is not that easy.

thankx

More air in will result in a leaner fuel ratio. I don´t think you need to change the filter from what I have read. The Ecu should adjust accordingly for the end can. I may have a look at the Coober mentioned by Tom above to help with the fueling at very low speeds around my Pueblo. I think I will add the front section of the Arrow 71702M1 as I don´t like the welds on the standard exhaust.

That was the first thing I noticed in the pics when it came out, those are some ugly ass welds. I can't change the muffler in NY USA if I want to pass inspection but no one will notice if I put headers on. Any idea if that header part will mate to the stock catalytic pipe?

Edit: I'm guessing yes, it seems like that system can individually replace each component in a stock exhaust on a plug-and-play basis.

Yeh it’s fine with the Cat. It fits the 790 Duke so I’m assuming it’s fine with the Svarr/Vit

Like I wrote above, I noticed a good effect from installing the FuelX.

Hi after some time,

I decided to take out the DB killer from my Arrow slip-on, because it was really too quite. Is not too loud even now, so I am happy.

On the other hand the bike runs leaner now and seems to me also hotter (I came with 97°C, idle, fan on, 23°C without sun and the bike is not able to cool down 1° within 10mins) . So I have to solve it. Fuel X or Coober. Coober benefit is that I can make the de-cat also, am I right? Does anybody made this change? Will I benefit out of it? Some more HP or Nm? Or I will stay just with Fuel X? Fuel X is just for Duke 790? Is there really no difference, when Svart is tuned to +7kW more?

Honestly I am in a very expensive period with my track racing now, so don´t want to waste money, when it is not necessary :-)

I see that Tome answered similar question in different topic:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding it's the 2020 - 2022 Duke 790 (Euro 5) FuelX unit.
The Euro 5 FuelX works just with the two lambda sensors at the headers (before the catalyst).
The 801 is Euro 5+; that requires an addional third sensor behind the catalyst.
As long, as you don't decat the (Euro 5+) 801, the Euro 5 Duke 790 FuelX works fine.
The Coober "Husqvarna 801 Series LM ECU" is an alternative that uses the two sensors at the headers and also the third sensor behind the catalyst; and is fully Euro 5+ compatible; and you could remove the catalyst without getting any fault-codes.
