“Best Sound” is a matter of personal opinion, but I knew I wanted more sound regardless. Istarted looking for a second exhaust.

I have installed the Competition Works chamber delete, and I’m happy with the sound change. I have the Akrapovic exhaust, but didn’t want to cut up a $600 Akrapovic exhaust. I don’t keep my motorcycles for long, so a great accessory for the next owner.

I did some research and found a great exhaust and company, Coffman Exhaust.

It is a great value at $249!

Now, the Svartpilen sounds like a rambunctious thumber! the revs are deeper, the pops and spits are just plain fun. I swear it has more power and pull, but I’m smiling and laughing too much to really pay attention.

Finally, Coffman Exhaust is a great family company with a storied history. You will hear from a Coffman when you order, just a nice change of pace in our world of large corporations and Amazonia shopping.

Everyone needs to find their own preference, but if you want the best value it’s factually the Coffman Shorty Exhaust.

Ooh! I like that.
I wonder if they would make that without the giant logo?
Any idea how the weight compares to the stock muffler?
Does it seem louder?

From your youtube. Sounds cool. Is this with the dB killer installed?

Hello!

Yes, the DB killer is installed. Because I removed the muffler chamber I think it would too loud without the DB killer. It’s plenty loud now.

It is an option to order it without the logo.

It is lighter, sorry I’d need to take it off to weight it.

Yes, it is louder, very cool sound. Went riding today and find myself shifting up and down to make it sing!

This might be a dumb question, but does this exhaust work / do anything different in regards to sound without the cat delete? Would i be able to just replace my stock exhaust with the coffmans exhaust while keeping everything else stock and notice any difference?

Yeah the muffler at the end does it's part to reduce the noise emission.
Hence why many do a slip on exhaust

The Coffman shorty is most definitely louder but not obnoxious. I’m running it on the stock exhaust with the baffle installed and it is much deeper tone than the stock sewing machine sound.

Whats interesting about the Coffman's is its internals/baffle design.
It has a completely different sound to it...
Let me put it like this, when you open up the 401 it can end up sounding like a broken beginners quad or a 3rd hand 125 with holes in it.
The Coffman's filters out that tin can tang'iness and leaves more of an Arriba 'Rs rolling sound.

Today I tested out my Coffman's with the recommended 1. OPTION from the Coffman's instruction sheet (remove screen from insert). There isnt really any going back I dont think unless you are skillful or buy a new insert with the screen already attached.

That is exactly how Id hoped the Shorty would sound!

Started it up and the neighbor complained before I could get my helmet on :sneaky:...(bonus points)

It has a really nice thumpy sound that doesnt drone and is definately no louder than my Briggs and Straton.

So as mentioned above, here is how it looks with the first option, this way the Insert stays in so its not completely opened:

The piece that is removable (and yes, I mangled it severely in the process...):

I have the Coffman slip on also, and I had it made without the nameplate so it's solid black. Everything else is stock. If I did a chamber delete, any idea how much louder it would be? I'm actually happy with the sound right now so don't want it too much louder, but I hate the giant chamber box. Also, if you do a chamber delete, does anything need to be "retuned" on the bike?
