Can anyone tell me if the Vitpilen 701 uses the same size Triple-Tree as the Vitpilen 401?

Can anyone tell me if the Vitpilen 701 uses the same size Triple-Tree as the Vitpilen 401?

I'm sorry, I don't know what "trail" means in this context. Would you mind clarifying? Thanks

Sorry, I spoke too soon, I confused trial with offset. With different offsets (distance of the steering axis behind the fork tubes) they would not be interchangeable. different trails , I do not know.
"The trail of a motorcycle is defined as the distance measured form the center of the front tire’s contact patch to the ground and the point where an imaginary line passing through the center of the headstock axis meets the ground."

Ah. My issue stems from trying to install risers (Gilles Tooling)...The bars don't appear to be the same diameter on the 701 as they are on the 401?

I looked on Revzilla for parts for the Vitpilen 701 and for the Vitpilen 401. The grips found were 7/8", 22mm, for both the 701 and the 401.

In other words, the diameter of the bars is the same on the both the 701 and 401.

701 bars should plug right in to the 401 triple clamp, and 401 bars should plug right in to the 701 triple clamp.

One pair of grips can be fatter than another pair on the outside diameter yet both pairs share the same inside diameter.

That was my thinking as well, unfortunately, there's no way this set of 32mm riser is going to fit snugly in the 22mm cone-shaped hole of my vitpilen 401. $300 later and a bunch of european sass...I guess we'll see what happens when i receive the longer bolts I ordered to circumvent european engineering excellence. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can you post a pic of or a link to the risers that you bought?

I'm having a hard time visualizing what you bought.

That's right the Gilles risers don't fit the 401. But there are many riser options for the 401 out there.

e.g.:
More details you can find in this thread: https://hqvadventure.com/forum/threads/passenger-comfort-2021-vitpilen-401.821/

Those are for Svartpilen.

This is all great stuff, but can any one tell me why the riser fits the 22mm insert on a 701, but not the 22mm insert on a 401? Also, why does GILLES tooling not make this discrepancy clear on their website??!?

I can't see why they wouldn't work on the 401.

I'm not saying they do work on the 401, I'm just saying I can't see why they wouldn't work on the 401.

Sorry, I see you did try to install them.

Evidently the "hole" is cone shaped and shaped differently on the 401.
