Badwinners Dash - Anybody Who Preordered has Received?

Same here. Sent it back, no word, reached out, no reply.

The dash looked sweet once installed, but their administration and customer support is very, very poor.

They still have my $600 and my dash and have not replied. Dead in the water.

You will get your dash. It will be worth it. It's just that badwinners customer service sucks.
You hear this a lot about small specialised companies like badwinners.
They are very very good at what they do, and because of that have become very well known, sometimes even world wide. But they are not very good at the customer service bit that comes with the enormous growth of the requests.
So they are very bad as answering mails and calls. Some customers get lucky and get through without issues. Others are not so lucky.
Best thing to do if you are an unlucky customer is to visit them, remind them as often as possible that they owe you a service you have paid for. But this is not realistic if you are on the other side of the globe unfortunately.

Be patient, send emails, call, and accept the fact you will not get the thing you want within a short time frame.

I get it but when you promise a paying customer a product some updates would be nice. They said they would treat recalled as priority. They have had my dash since last Friday. How long does it take to update firmware.

When you have hundreds of people throwing bunches of moneys at you, there is only any time to duck and no time to deliver...

Duh...

You really think hundreds. I was thinking dozens. In any event if you leave potential customers hanging. You're throwing money away. I guess lucky for them most of their products are so niche they have no competition.

Whatever their shortcomings, if they come through BW will deserve a medal. My Svart is not only the most fun to ride bike I've owned (out of a dozen, or so), it's also a perfectly executed sculpture in my eyes. Perfect, except for this plastic blob plunked on the front end, like a pocket protector on an Armani suit.

I swear I'm not usually this shallow about the look of a bike, but someone had to fix this. With Husky having discontinued the bike, I was worried the market wouldn’t be big enough for such a specialty product.

12 svartpilens. I'm sure the vitpilens we're much more But where unaffected. I posted on the vitpilen forum my theory. But it's acting strange. Hope it doesn't go under.

BW will never get a pass from me. They dropped the ball over and over on this and other issues. Their customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced.

The dash looks great once installed, and hopefully it will function as desired. But a major shortcoming was not having a port on the dash for firmware updates or bug fixes. I noted this when I installed it and actually thought, "Damn, you'd have to send it back to France if there was an issue," as the only port was their main cable. I suppose they could have designed and built a piggyback cable that had a usb-out port to handle the update, but then they'd have to build it and write the software for it. It made more sense, apparently, to have us break down our dash's and send it back for 6-8 weeks. Or they could have had a mini-usb port in the first place.

Nope, I worked with them on two issues, and they suck. And they held everyone's money for nearly a year - over the riding season - with a next month, next month, next month, next month iteration of failed ship dates.

Knowing this, I probably would still buy this dash, but would have waited until the bugs were worked and out and they had stock to ship asap - this means late '22 or spring '23. It'll be interesting to see what happens with reliability and customer satisfaction over the next year or two. Hopefully they got it right.

Well. To be fair most oem dashes don't have ports. Once programed correctly the first time.( Which I believe the last svartpilens never were). You shouldn't have to touch it again. It's more cost effective to not include USB and the ability to program remotely. However I would've paid extra for USB if available.) . The customer service on the other hand. They get no pass for. Btw the stock dash is glitchy as hell also. And there is no fix.

Oh no! Hopefully this issue gets resolved sooner rather than later. Please keep us posted. I really do like the idea of having a nicer dash for our bikes but this is looking like its turning into a bigger headache than most anticipated. I was considering on pulling the trigger on a dash unit for my 401, but with the "8 week" delay and the issues that are arising with the 701 dashes, I think I might just hold off for now.

Consider that every one of the Husky dealers can reprogram/flash your bike if they need to - if a problem develops with the dash or any other software/firmware driven device, they can plug in their proprietary connector at the shop and resolve the issue. But because there is a proprietary connector, you have to go to them for the update. But that's not a problem, as they are generally all over the place. They don't NEED to have a universal input to their system (USB) because they are down the street and can use their specific jack relatively easily.

For BW, they are in one location in the world and selling globally. If they have an issue with their dash, and because they have a proprietary connector, the only solution is to send the dashes to them, in France. This is time-consuming and costly. If they had a universal input, they could send out usb sticks (or have downloadable software that you put on your usb stick) that solve the problem without the need to dismantle and send and wait. They took a chance, and lost.

Also, if a future Husky firmware update affects the communication of the bus and the dash, or simply updates the dash firmware to align with some other change, again there is an issue, as the BW dash will have to be altered to respond to this change. Is this likely? Probably a slight chance, but it CAN happen. We've already had firmware changes to our bikes since being sold, and mine is checked for new ones each time it goes into the shop. It is possible that one of these updates compromises the BW firmware.

They chose to not have this safeguard in their design, and it's already shown itself to be a bad decision. But if in the future there is a husky update that affects the expected communication from the dash, then it will be a very, very costly problem, both monetarily and towards negative public sentiment as every single dash will need to be recalled and updated.

Hmm. Mabey my dealer doesn't know what they are talking about then . I asked them about it. And they said they could only replace it.and odo would be zero.

The Odo stand needs to be saved in the ECU though, right?
Otherwise... we all know Smooth Roger will be looking for guages on ebay everytime something's up for sale...

(no offence to anyone actually going by the name of smooth Roger)
