Badwinners Dash - Anybody Who Preordered has Received?

I have a question about the BW dash,

Does the RPM show the "real" rpm?

I ask because I measured the stock 401 Dash as being off by more than 500 rpm, and without measuring would estimate so far that the 701 is even further off.

The shift light on the other hand was accurate on the 401 and, again, I am yet to measure the 701.

Would be nice to have an accurate dash.

How exactly did you measure it. Off hand I'd say .it will read whatever the stock dash read.some bikes will "dampen" what the tach reads so you have less bounce. . And sometimes the scale is just off between two different measuring devices

On the 401 I measured it with the HealTech I was using, which plugged into the ignition and fuel injection.

Example: when setting the quickshifter and the dash's shift light flash to the same rpm, they both matched, and the dash RPM read atleast 500rpm more, in other words atleast one full bar more.

Also when pegging the limiter, the dash read considerably higher than the limiter would allow.

From a software aspect, I wonder of the LCD on the stock dash is a % value of total vs. a Real value as the numbers on the bezel would suggest.

What accuracy do you expect from a bar scale? The width of the bar can contain ~500 rpm.
The most accurate rpm you can read is the moment between to bars. That must be all 500 rpm.

You are right, I can't remember right now how it's shown on my dash. I can check it next time I ride my Vitpilen if you want.

They never released them until the current version with touch screen. So what happened before that is pretty much irrelevant. Right?
They actually WERE released as wired. During the delay in production on the pre-orders, they changed to "tactile function to the counter."

"In return for this extra time, we have made a few improvements. Notably, as many of you have asked, adding tactile function to the counter."

The point of the comments on this sub-thread was that they had the ability to add firmware updates in one way or another and chose not to. The change from external buttons to touchscreen means they also had a significant change to i/o of the device and had that opportunity to add it at that time as well. And chose not to.

But, yes, at this point all this reflection is academic and doesn't really matter.

So, just checked, and on the Stock Dash, the 6500 shift light lights up at the same time as the lcd for 7500 shows.

So 1000 RPM off on the stock guage.

Back to my question, has anyone checked the BW dash for accuracy?

I believe mine is set at 8500rpm (did that two years ago, not sure), and it flashes right before it hits the rev limiter... but gotta admit, I typically don't have much time to watch the tachometer at those moments.

I typically ride the wave of torque, which starts to tail off before the redline.

Just a one off. Winter will be back In two days. Weird still seeing snow in places. And people playing ball at the park.

Hope all is well :) I am considering one of these dashes for my 401, can you tell me what you think of it now that it is all fixed up and on your bike? Is it as big of an improvement as it looks? 600 clams + shipping is no small fee for a speedo IMO, but this stock one is pretty horrible. Thanks!!

The screen is beautiful. The housing is a bit bulky. But I have a screen anyway. I love touch controls over the clunky non responsive buttons. But I'm not sure it has adjustable shift lights. I never used it on stock dash. But with the above talk I got curious. I emailed bw. Never got a response.

Got a note from BW last week saying that supply chain challenges are holding things up. They’re expecting a chip shipment in April that will allow them to deliver in May. Eight weeks is now twelve.
