801 owners club

The 801 is a very fine tuning, fine balance of everything.... She has all the things you really need ! But like you folks, i coudn't help looking at the 990 Duke and the 1390... These two really are appealing beasts ! They seem to do everything the 801 does but meaner, faster... And who is against a little more power !?

Luckily for my beloved 801, those poor Ktm's are soooo ugly ! The insect look in the front and that orange everywhere, those lines, i just can't stand it and never will !!! Really so awful imo ! Too bad, they really seem fantastic....

My latest big crush is this one, 4 cylinders.... and that 80 's look that touches my heart full force ! I'll certainly give it a try in june...

Lucky for me then I only like one and two cylinder bikes. 😆

I own a 401 and a 801, couldn't agree more !
Still, i love the sound of a 4cyl, especially on this vid with a great custom exhaust !

I sat on the CB1000 f at a demo - show, it felt like a sofa ! Very confortable, very natural ! Gotta try this bike...

Test Ride Reviews from dealers meet this weekend

Hypermotard (The big one) Quite short, not as tall as I expected. Fun engine, good suspension, stable bike. It didn't give me that "must-have" feeling, though.

Streetfighter V2S Suspension was too soft, but the engine is fun. Decent length, but the front end is too low for my taste; my back didn't appreciate the angle even for the 15min test ride. A fast and fun bike regardless—I definitely felt a bit of a craving for it.

KTM Duke 990R I liked everything about this one more than the Streetfighter. Both the engine and the riding position were much more to my liking. I could easily see myself owning one of these. The dealer has the regular 990 for sale and of course it’s cheaper but it also has 7hp less than the R.

After these test rides I took the same route with my 801. Conclusion; love the 801 but if they release a bigger engine version with the same looks I’ll probably go for it.

I would have given the Monster a try...

Hello i am new in this forum, from Spain
I am planning to buy a 801 vitpilen but i have some doubts, what about the real mileage?, have you got problems in finding spare parts? and finally what about the rumors about the end of the brand, some websites say that ktm is gonna let Husky go...
thanks in andance, waiting for your real life experiences driving this horse

The only issue I’ve had after 8500km is a breaker in the clutch handle that died. I didn’t even know about it, the service center found it and replaced it under warranty. It made the bike not start unless in neutral which apparently was an issue.

If you like the bike go for it. You won't have a problem with spare parts, in Spain by law they need to provide them for at least 10 years and the bike (besides aesthetics) is a KTM duke, so you will find plenty of spare parts also I'm the used market.

I only have 1000km on it and is has already started to leak (or sweat) on the oil pan gasket. You need to be ready to solve several minor issues during the first KMs with this engine. My previous bike was a KTM 890 adventure (with almost same engine) and I had to solve a lot of minor things during the first year (all covered by warranty). If you are ok with that, then you will.have a super fun bike that is quite reliable. I have sold my KTM with 50k kilometers of heavy use and it never had a major issue.

I have friends with bikes of all brands, and I can tell you KTM/husky is quite reliable considering the standards that we have now. 20 years ago it was different, you could buy bike that will never have a problem.

Yes, you can find really good deals now. I bought mine in Spain 2 weeks ago, it was a 2024 model collecting dust at the dealer with 0km for 7000 euros, and they had the 2025 for 7500 euros.

Yes, sane right now. Some offers a Renus exhaust as gift ( not so gift) would you considero the Remus exhaust or is not that interesting?

I believe the 2024 has quickshifter from start while you have to pay extra for it on the 2025 and 2026 models, if I recall correctly. Other than that, the bikes are identical.

Note that there is a L version with only 95hp which can’t be upgraded to the full 105hp. It’s two different motors.
