801 owners club

5000km so far. Very happy with the bike!
OK breaks, great suspension, great motor, great handling, nice sound with open end can, great looks and very comfortable riding position.

Since installing the FuelX I can ride 25km/h in second gear and it hasn’t died on me since I installing it. The only issue I’ve had with the bike is that it died on me a few times before I installed it.

Still about 2300km up to now.
I do like the rougher look of the Svartpilen; prefer it much over the sleeker look of the Vitpilen.
My rides are 300km day trips on small, sometimes quite bumpy, backroads; no commuting in town.
Main points to me are next to the design, the low weight of the bike, the characterful and enough powerful engine, the quite comfortable riding position and the very sporty geometry and suspension without beening too stiff.
At all I'm still very happy with the decision to buy the 801; it fits my riding style perfectly.
Because of the reliability; yes, fingers crossed.

1250km on mine and found quite a big leak from front right caliper :-( Looking in the caliper with my flashlight ale seems to me right upper piston is leaking.

I know, that anything can happend, but that means 2 hours to the dealer, keep the bike there, 2 hours home and same again after repair :(

Hi yonsson I have seen your custom Svart.... beautiful
I love the handlebar with handlebar mirrors and hand guards
please have you link of the products used and I see that ther'isint space on the handlebar to mount the staff of the hand guards, maybe have you a bit moved the oil tank and the other piece to insert the handlebar staff?
thanks
G

Picking up my Vit Thursday out of state. Can someone take a pic of the cockpit for me? I need to find a bolt that I can use to mount my quadlock so that I have directions for the ride back.

Thanks! All I had to do for the hand guards was to move in the levers a little bit. Kinda hard to get all the fingers on the levers now, I can use 4 fingers which is enough for me.

The dealer sent a car, picked up my bike yesterday, will order new caliper, take caliper from bike he has in and should bring me the bike Friday morning. Excelent behaving (y) Just to let you know, it is for the first time he has seen this problem. So probably no issue on other bikes.

Got it home. Very comfortable for long rides, good power, about 190 miles of range on a full tank at~72 mph. Brakes might require a pad swap for my tastes. Went into the garage and modified the bar end weights with a set of spacers to run CRG Arrow mirrors. Tomorrow going to machine a bracket to get rid of the passenger pegs on the exhaust side.

Congrats to the bike!
I'm a fan of customized parts, but why don't you want to use the optional Husqvarna braket?

Congrats on your new bike.

So, are going to be ‘doing a thing’ on this one? and is it going burgundy and grey?

Hahaha! I will! I won't change the color of the subframe since I already like it but the front is getting the burgundy treatment. First items are the exhaust bracket and machining a tail tidy. Long term I'd like to see about making a different tank cover, there is no reason for it to be as large (and far forward) as it is. Makes the bike look 'heavy'.

Speaking of which, the dealer had a 1290 SuperDuke. I've never seen one in person - the front of the bike is HUGE. It is like you are riding on the back of an orange grizzly bear.

@Tom I don't have a dealer local and ordering parts online in the US is currently very hit and miss for the new stuff. Also, I have a lathe, a mill and a bunch of aluminum stock :) Do you have that mount that you made for the tail tidy (the baseplate with the stock hole pattern in it) in a drawing file? I would love to get that if possible as a starting point.

Can the repair manual still be ordered online like for the 401's? I need to see how things bolt together.

If you'll send me a mail address, I can send you a pdf-file of the baseplate.

Thanks for that file, that is the worst part about fabricating something, getting measurements of plates like that.

Did some mill work this morning. More finishing to do, I'll probably then powdercoat it but it works for now. The finish on the black muffler it ridiculously thin, I looked at it wrong and it got a scratch in it. That titanium and carbon Akro looks pretty nice...

Also, just for some notes on weights:
Stock Mirrors: 966g
Passenger Pegs: 1982g
Tool Pouch: 630g
Battery: 3480g

I swapped to CRG arrows at 240g each and my Shorai battery is 700g, so just the simple stuff is 6 kg.

I rode 300km today. 5000km total on the tires and the rear is pretty much done.

By the way. I checked on the order I made in December for forged carbon heel guards today. It was supposed to arrive in March. It has been pushed up til September.

First service booked for next Monday. Definitely adding Easy Shift. What do we think of the Dynamic option? Worth it or not guys.
