Hello from a wonderfully muddy UK right now.
Problem is the new 701 enduro I have bought has issues, so I'm not riding like I should.
I need to scratch a few brains cleverer than mine!
Has anyone had issues with a fault code F3 ECU. I know these codes can be pretty generic and the bike has been back at the dealership 3 times to replace dash and clutch switch, diagnostis etc. The problem is definitely quick shift, ecu, clutch, wiring related. The local dealership, like many in the UK has closed last month along with 3 others near me.
I'm under warranty but I'll need to travel now to get the bike plugged into Husky headquarters........so I guess the bigger question is, is Husqvarna in trouble, are OEM parts so badly made now with Pierrer Group cut backs that a dealership will just fit the same shit again so nothing changes. Do I void the warranty and get into making my own repairs.?
Any experience would be appreciated. When it runs I love this bike, it has such great potential. I'm not sure I trust Husqvarna / KTM dealerships as a brand anymore to keep me on the trails. Are mobile workshops the future?

Cheers for any input.

Yup. Mine to.
Recently purchased, F3 ECU fault code after about 110 miles ( bike is garaged). Just been in for first service with very light front end at 70 mph (wouldn't go one handed at that speed or feel much more comfortable going above that speed). Also feels like coming to a stop with quick shift the revs don't drop for a second or to with throttle closed.
Dealer reports ordering replacement dash under warranty including unable to readjust quick shift and some water in dash.
Reportedly reset fault code but within 3 miles or less F3 ECU fault returned !
Also find general durability of chain and engine chase fixings poor with the slightest sign of road salt even after a quick wash down fasteners fur up.
Also the engine. Is more vibey than expected
Guess I am going to be spending more time servicing and cleaning than I was expecting.
Good luck getting your bike sorted, it may be a long road.

Yes, the front does feel light at speed. There's only 151 lbs on the front tire statically, anyway. At higher speed the wind on the riders torso will increase the weight on the rear tire, thus reducing the weight on the front tire. That's why it feels light on the front. Knobby tread pattern is also a huge contributing factor for "level of stability."

The "rev's not dropping quickly" is an ECU adjustment/reboot. Let ur dealership mess with that for free. (As you say, "new dash" is enroute.)

Be careful with over-tightening fasteners on the Husky. Also, use the thread lock recommended in ur owner's manual. Check and abide by, the torque values in the OM.

Try ACF-50 for anti-rust, after a wash.

Thanks N.F. for your reply.
Was expecting wind pressure on my 6ft 4inch frame, 21inch wheel ect to be part of the issue but not to the extent that it would limit usable to speed 🙄
I was planning to get the husqvarna mini screen to keep some of the wind blast off me for better high speed comfort especially if I'm to get over to Spain or Portugal in the summer. Hopefully this might put a little down force back on the front end and not cause other handling issues ( cross winds ect) anyone any experience of them ?

ECU.

Yes get the dealer to sort. Dealer reported no fault registered with code but had been in fault for 500 mile so may had disappeared with time. I've got a cable to connect to the odb on the bike to a car fault code reader or dongle and torque pro on a phone, I was wondering if it would be possible / worth trying to check for a code soon after it had appear, presuming fault had been reset as the dealer had said.

Fasteners.

May eventually have to get get some upgraded fastener due to the way they corroded.
Yes already had acf50 to spray engine but hadn't done so as I presumed the engine may have a protective coating from the factory that I would need to pressure hose off before recoating with Acf 50. Lesson learnt.

I'm starting to see why motorcyclists spend so much time cleaning as well as riding their bikes.

Thank again N.F.

Mr. DB~

The "instability at speed" is caused by a few factors.

1. Having wide handle bars gives the rider extra leverage when making minute inputs. Sometimes, these inputs are "too large" for the desired effect and a correction must be made. This can cause oscillations to manifest. The higher the speed, the more this can become a problem.

2. An aggressive tread pattern offers minimal contact (tire/roadway friction) that can easily be overcome, due to the 701's performance envelope. Again, speed isn't our friend, here.

3. Wind pressure up high in the rider/motorcycle triangle can cause instability, as previously mentioned. Moving that pressure forward may (or may not) help. We know that moving that pressure lower helps, but dunno if moving the pressure forward helps.

4. Motorcycle geometry. Things like "rake/trail" are huge factors, along with #'s 1, 2 & 3 above, that can contribute to instability. A steep rake is beneficial at slow speed, as the bike will turn quicker, but as speeds come up, #1 comes into play.

Hope some of this helps, as we didn't even touch on damping/valving in the suspension...

Yes. Very much about seeing what you want from your ride and dialing a few compromises to get your best you can. I'm sure my height is not helping.

Cheers N.F.

Hi Cullwah.

Just a thought I know that Husqvarna Nordens suffered from unexplained fault codes ( noted on forums and YouTube) which turned out to be related to bad earth's under the seats I believe. I know this may not be related to your problem and dealers "should be aware" but sometimes people look for complicated problems rather than working the fault from easy towards the more complicated. May be worth checking in your situation.

Good luck whatever you do.

Hello mate, the sensor for the quickshift on the clutch lever was the problem. Super simple fix once I'd discovered it. Bikes great now maybe this'll sort yours too. If you need pics I could post some here if it helps.
Cheers

Hi.
Glad you got your ride sorted. My 701 has also had a new dash fitted under warranty which was actually noticeable on leaving the dealership after fitting ( smoother and better low down fueling ) I am however still disappointed with the fueling at very low speeds off road ( greenlaning in the UK can be rather low speed at times). I probably need to drop to first gear to keep the revs up or slip the clutch but 1st throttle action is rather jerky so expecting to lower the gearing when I replace the chain.
Anyone any experience with fitting fueling dongles to these bikes to improve fuel. Believe they cause the ECU to recalibrate ? Will the ecu recalibrate back to standard if I remove the dongle before a dealer service ?
I've also now fitted the genuine Husqvarna mini screen and found that surprisingly effective at reducing wind pressure on the rider meaning reduced pressure on the butt from being pushed into seat and greater stability at speed, £86 well spent
