2024 Svartpilen 401 Pictures!

Boy, the 2024 Duke is sure good looking. If I were in the market I might choose it over a 2024 401.

It may be 13kg/28.6lbs heavier but it may still be a better bike.
There are of course more to a bike than weight and max power, but still disappointing about the power output on the new engine. It could have been a huge selling point, but landed as a face plant. None of the new features makes me tingle and the new exhaust will look out of place on the new Svart/Vit.

The max. horsepower to minimum weight is limited by specific drivers-license requirements (at least in parts of europe).

By increasing the weight they were able to increase the power.

Max power for this class being 46.9 hp.
Max power to weight being 0.268 hp per kg.

In that case neither the 2023 or the 2024 make those specs. Here in Sweden we have a A2 class (middleweight motorcycle), it’s max 25KW / 34hp. The previous models have been easy to convert to A2 standards so I don’t get why they would lower the max output on a standard bike.

They do on alot of bikes, not only ktm.
Gsx 950
RS660
Z900
Etc...
...all available in detuned 70kw version to accept the reduction of power to the 35kw restriction for beginners who have an a2 license.

I know, that was my point. No need to keep the original power down since you can adapt the power for A2 riders afterwards.

But that's the thing, on an A2 detuned bike you can never get the full power, you can get 70kw but not more, so those big bikes are still limited far below the normal versions.
They still sell or nobody would make em.
The A2 390/401 sell so they make them.

What I mean is, if the new engine can put out 55hp, then they might as well sell it as a 55hp bike and adjust the output to different markets. Here previous years are sold as full power (A) and 25KW/30Kw (A2).

But the new max power is 45hp. So either the engine isn’t made to put out more, or it’s strangled for unknown reasons.

I am sure there are other factors when they design a bike which come into play while selecting which power is targeted; such as frame strength, suspension quality, braking power, tire size, tank size, and on and on.

Either way, I hope the RC390 brake finds it way into the 'pilen line up because it looks too cool... probably doesnt work with spoked wheels though...

Sigh, 1st edition was the best..

Well - the 2024 isn't revealed yet...

The 2nd edition brought some nice changes, and a rerouted exhaust as one possible negative. Otherwise it's the same exact bike as the 1st gen. Headlights brakes engine styling etc etc etc.

Maaaan... I knew it was going to be probably not so good looking as the original, but this... I'm just happy to have the 2018 SvartI keep waiting for the next 801 model, and I really whish it finally exist a 501/601 model.

I don’t understand why they would make the 401 longer and heavier with the redesign…. Kind of makes me nervous for the 801/901/1001 whenever it comes out
