Yeah, the 701's "re-write" the performance envelope for thumpers. Funnest thing is to watch a rider that's used to the Asian made thumpers, expect the same, and get surprised pleasantly.

Yup, the 701's limits, are the tires. The bike can do many roles, but having tires that are superior in 1 role, are poor in the other role. Picking a "combo" tire gets you marginal performance, in BOTH roles. This is, the dichotomy.

Significantly easier to put SUMO wheels on the Enduro. Get the Enduro.

The 701's are fun bikes, there's no doubt! Once they get tuned, then they're even better...

I had this symptom twice. Turns out the gasoline I was using wasn't of good quality. It was still 91oct, but it wasn't very good in the Reid vapor pressure dept. Started using SHELL V-Power and drivability issues ceased immediately. OP if you think it's ECU, then pull your plugs and read them.

Suspension is different. Most say that the 2019 forks are much better than the 4CS units found on the 2018 MY bikes.
