Gentlemen,
I'm the proud owner of a new 2022 701sm. Beautiful machine...but I have one problem I can't seem to find the fix for.

On the way home from the dealer I encountered some traffic, pulled in the clutch to shift down, probably was in about 3rd gear....revs were quite low...I kicked the lever down into second and before I could even release my grip on the clutch to reengage it, the engine had stalled. Being a brand new bike I just put this down to teething problems and have waited to see if the problem would 'go away by itself' by the first service. Well...first service was today, and it didn't go away. I informed the dealer of the problem and said maybe its the fulling or quickshifter / blipper... he said they couldnt reflash the ECU unless an update is required, but said they flashed the quickshifter and reset the TPS etc. No change, happened again on the way home. I am able to duplicate the problem given maybe 10 mins or so of riding the bike, whether fully warmed up or not doesn't matter. Same thing, doesnt happen every time, but only happens when coasting with the clutch pulled in in 3rd, shift into 2 - click / engine dead.

Has anyone else encountered this... its a pretty bad problem for such an expensive bike. Please help me

I had this symptom twice. Turns out the gasoline I was using wasn't of good quality. It was still 91oct, but it wasn't very good in the Reid vapor pressure dept. Started using SHELL V-Power and drivability issues ceased immediately.

OP if you think it's ECU, then pull your plugs and read them.

Thanks Norty, the problem is solved, for the time being at least.

My path to resolution was as follows -

a. Wait for the first 620 mile service and complete first service at top dollar dealer
b. Install rottweiler fuel dongle - At this stage there was disappointingly still no change and about 1000 miles on the bike - I then decided to...
c. Install rottweiler air intake and filter, and SAS delete kit - great sound but no real noticeable difference in power and no change to the stalling problem.
d. I installed the PC6...and the problem went away entirely and the bike feels and performs incredible.

I was skeptical that the PC would solve this particular issue because I didn't think the A/F mix was customizable at the very bottom of the rev range where my bike was stalling - basically at idle speed - however I suppose the ignition timing also is being modified by the PC, maybe someone who understands it can explain. To cut a long story short, now, the whole flow and feeling of how the bike runs down low is totally different. The other mods did not eliminate or even seem to reduce the stalling issue. After installing the PC6 not a single stall and the bike seems to breathe better and doesn't hunt or lope in idle. Honestly I feel very relieved...it was kind of a stress that I paid all this money for a brand new bike and it was just acting so weird and putting me in danger...I can accept the consequence of my own riding choices but mechanical failure is a real kick in the nuts that nobody needs. I hope this helps for anyone out there experiencing the same problem.
For reference, the map I am running on the PC6 is from rottweiler and for the rottweiler intake with stock header pipes and a slip-on muffler; in reality I am running rottweiler intake with full stock exhaust... soon to upgrade to the full tekmo exhaust and appropriate PC6 map.
I am so happy this problem is solved..at least for now.
And for my next trick... the false neutral issue...

Great to hear.

Now you know, that the Power Commander can make the 701, a whole new ballgame. No more weak off idle performance. Mid range has some decent snap. Topend has a nice "rush."
Need to loft the front wheel from a stop to avoid an obstacle? With the correct fueling AND timing, easy peasy.

I have a PC5 from Rott, but I have access to a tuner that's well respected in the industry. Once he got done tuning, his comment, "This thing RIPS!"

Pro tip: He tried using 4 degrees advance up top, but it made no difference, so he went back to 2 degrees. This allows me to use lesser quality fuel, if need be. (Luckily, that issue hasn't arisen.

Since it's a bit richer (bottom/mid) and leaner (top) I still get 140 miles per tank, before the "low fuel light" comes on. (This is droning on the freeway (55mph. )) Stock, I got 160ish before tuning.
On the track, I get a lot less! But, it digs great trenches!
