    Snorkel delete

Just changing to a slip on with the cat in place should be fine. I would recommend a fuel dongle even with the PCV.

    Snorkel delete

Yet more intake noise, running it with a PCV (though map probably needs optimising on a Dyno) no obvious dips in power, and feels like more thrust in the midrange. Really hard to tell though because the sound plays havoc with my butt-dyno 😂

    Snorkel delete

I did this before going full pod filter. Ran with airbox lid removed for a couple of months (definitely more noise and power) then popped the snorkels out. More intake noise for sure, but don't think there was any power difference over just running without lid.

Non-ABS Braking wave disc on Svart

The stock disc was 1553g and the wave disc was 1287g

Non-ABS Braking wave disc on Svart

A few months back I picked up a Braking wave disc for a non-ABS 690 smcr, it was a bargain and worth a go. Turns out the older model discs are the same but recessed for the bolts. A problem solved with some 1.7mm titanium spacers from ProBolt.

    Hitting the Pipe Catalogue

I have the Duke full Akrapovic on my Svart, originally ran it with a fuel dongle and airbox lid removed, certainly didn't feel like it lost power anywhere but it is pretty hard to be sure without a dyno run. I have since removed the airbox and added a PCV, definitely a lot more thrust everywhere.

    Svart front wheel swap?

Nope, left it as it was. Still plenty of ground clearance but there is room to raise the front by at least 10mm.

Weight loss: How much and how?

If money were no issue I would have carbon wheels but I will probably fit some Duke cast rims if a good pair come up.

    Introduce yourself here!

Tim from the South Coast of the UK, 2020 Svart owner. Favourite bike I have ever owned (there were a few odd balls) reminded me of my old TDR250 in a lot of ways.

Weight loss: How much and how?

The Vit and Svart are far from porky little bikes as standard, but it is still surprisingly easy to shed some extra weight. I have managed to shave just over 20lbs from mine, mostly by replacing the exhaust system (the stock system is shockingly heavy and the cat shrouds are just ridiculous)...

New boy and his slightly modded Svart 701

If I had a spare airbox I might have given that a try. The good thing is that I haven't had to make any permanent changes and it could all go back to stock in a couple of hours.

    Svart front wheel swap?

I'm running a 17" SM front wheel on my Svart, the change in rolling diameter is quite a bit more than an inch due to the difference in tyre sidewall height/width ratio on top of the smaller wheel. That said, the handling is still super stable, possibly turns a little quicker but it was never a...

I wonder if that is open on just one side or if it has a really big filter in there?

New boy and his slightly modded Svart 701

You might be able to put a smaller cone filter inside the box, but I suspect there would be less benefit to it than just removing the airbox lid and keeping the stock filter. I ran the airbox without the lid for a while and it probably isn't that much different performance wise than ditching the...

New boy and his slightly modded Svart 701

It would be totally possible, just involve cutting the airbox about a bit. The look isn't for everyone, it probably works better with the black subframe versions.

The map is for the airbox lid removed and a decat exhaust, available on Dynojet website. It runs pretty well but will need tuning on a dyno to optimise.

New boy and his slightly modded Svart 701

I have seen a couple of others, Vits I think, who have taken different approaches to the same mod.

New boy and his slightly modded Svart 701

PCV with an open airbox map, on top of a fuel dongle. No gaps in the power or flat spots but will probably benefit from some dyno time. It certainly feels like it has a huge amount of extra thrust in the midrange but the increased induction noise almost certainly has a misleading effect on my...

New boy and his slightly modded Svart 701

Yeah, the Akrapovic system on the Duke is spaced out high and wide when offered up to the 701, I cut about 30mm out of the link pipe between the two exhaust cans and rewelded at an angle to meet the Svart fittings.
