    Close call

That should never happen and can only be blamed on whoever last tightened it up. Most rear axles are held on with crown nut and split pin to stop it coming loose. The thing you call the hub that has come out a bit is probably a spacer. There are often spacers each side of the wheel to make...

    Crash bars on Aliexpress.com

Bear in mind that bars offer very limited protection in a crash at highway speeds. They are limited to slow drops where the bike doesn't have a lot of forward momentum. Large bikes often end up with bent frames and forks in a crash, so bars bolted to the outside aren't expected to do better...

    Steering Damper Stabilizer 401 S or V

If nothing else, that mounting shown in the pic gives a nice bit of steam punk to the bike. :) And at the cost of 9% of the original bike price. o_O

Oh No O'Niel is at it AGAIN

These are Aussie brand, Dririder. I've had these as a city boot for a few years now and they've not suffered any pipe-melt. They are fairly thick layered canvas and I don't know what else is in there. I don't think they are advertised as water proof but I've not had any trouble riding in rain. I...

TE 630 Doesn't Start after sitting 7 years

The slow drip is a pretty sure indication the pump is gone somewhere, but the filter is only one part. Can you pull the filter sock off and test the pump by itself? There might be some gummed up exit hose as well. That reverse flush of the injector might work, but it's a technique for when...

    Ibeat download

If you know where it was on the Cafe Husky forum you might be able to find it on an archive site. Here is a list of archives. I've found the Wayback Machine to be OK. Wayback does a monthly snapshot and you can search by year. Click through to Wayback and enter cafehusky.com in the search box...

Vitpilen 401, Engine Control Lamp and neutral flashing, bike twitching

+1 for checking the connector plugs. It sounds like something has come adrift somewhere and is intermittently making/breaking connection. From what you describe my first guess would be the quick shifter but I don't know if a two year old 401 has one. The QS cuts the fueling for an instant and...

More than 6400 Husqvarna 401 sold in the last year!

There are a few youtube reviews that compare the Svart 701 with the KTM 690. Most people say the Svart is the more fun bike but the sales seem to reflect something else in the mind of the buying public.

The typical Chinese knockoff. I guess it was only a matter of time.

    250 Improvements

Thanks for the link. That place is 20 minutes from my home and although I found the store in my search I could not find the part. The problem with an Aussie store is that the 250 is not sold here and so they won't be carrying parts. The parts that are listed on that link are shared with the 401...

    250 Improvements

Thanks for the diagram. Can you give me a link to where you bought it? I've just spent another hour or two searching everything I can think of for Husky spare parts and come up with nothing. Even the part number they give here doesn't return any matches. Most of the parts sites are for chain...

    Crash bars on Aliexpress.com

There are no long stretches of pipe so it will probably give the same level of protection as steel. the bike is relatively light, it might be different if it was a heavy weight. I checked the price for us here in Oz - bars are $30 and shipping is $60.

    Bike cleaning

I use basic car wash, ArmorAll Wash and Wax. When I had a matte black Indian I used their wash only (no wax) version so it didn't gloss up the matte finish. I needn't have worried. For a finish coat I use Mr Sheen, basic furniture polish, on all surfaces. This also keeps mud etc from sticking a...

    Headlight removal question

There are probably more KTM bikes doing track days and racing than Husky. Have you thought of chasing up a KTM forum to see if anyone there has had the problem and how they fixed it? Also check youtube. Another thing that comes to mind is to chase up a smashed headlight. Pull the inner workings...

Oh No O'Niel is at it AGAIN

Those boots obviously want to have their soles level all the time, and that is what you can see at the 23 second mark - the wheelie is merely there to keep them level. :)

    Ride Pictures!

Was out today on one of our local bike roads - Wollombi to Kulnura. First up is Lemming Corner. This corner was named by the biker community many many years ago. It's a succession of three corners of decreasing speed going down a hill. Lots of riders took the first corner, then accelerated...
