Cold weather's a good time for bike mods and I wonder what other 801 owners are doing? Since I'll likely switch my Ixil exhaust back to the OEM muffler (with an "out-of-stock" Coober decat link pipe), I started prepping the factory can for flat black, high-temp paint simply because I prefer a low-key profile. 😋 I like the stock muffler's straight-through design and tone even if it's a tad heavy.
Cheers!

My muffler "blackening" is done. The ceramic, high-temp, rattle-can finish required baking at 450F degrees for 1 hour to cure and my wife kindly accommodated, after which, she did an overdue cleaning of the oven. :p I'm okay with the final muffler result. `Tis what I wanted.

I don't know about high temp paint, but I know if you use an over to cure powder coat you are absolutely never supposed to cook food in it again regardless of how you clean it.

Thanks for the warning about powder coat. (y) Fortunately, the high-temp paint curing produced no smoke or noxious vapors. It just sat there looking dumb and hot but if either of us suffer any deleterious future maladies, we'll know your warning might be relevant. :)
