    So I'm doing a thing...

Yea, leave the chamber, remove the exhaust, and replace with a stubby tip for extreme weight loss: https://hqvadventure.com/forum/threads/whats-the-purpose-of-the-exhaust-chamber.239/page-2#post-11459

    Brake and clutch levers recommendations?

No, there was still play, plus the lever has a second pivot point (for the reach adjustment) which has some wiggle. I added a thin shim washer at the main pivot which helped a bit.

    Brake and clutch levers recommendations?

I bought these, they work well and are non-folding: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B078HRT6VS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title The slop in the pivots is to be expected from a lower-end bike like ours. My 1988 BMW GS levers still feel like a Swiss watch after 35 years, it just comes down to...

Has anyone figured out the display connector pinout?

The display is a computer which gets its information from the ECU via the CAN bus. The data on the bus is encoded like the OBDii system in cars, but the data format is non-standard and proprietary to Husqvarna. Some of the indicator lights are hardwired and easy to figure out (high beams...

New 401 owner, Front brake gripe

I installed the Galfer floating wave rotor to solve the pulsating from the stock fixed rotor. Works perfectly. https://aomc.mx/17103898.html

    2023 Vitpilen Shifting Issues

That’s not right and needs to be addressed at the dealer. These bikes shift like butter, with maybe a little extra care finding neutral, that’s it.

Is the Akrapovic Slip on Exhaust worth the money....

Svartpilen 401 engine / fuel cap colour (Vitpilen rim colour)

I have the same “rugged” side covers and they replace the 401 covers. You have to drill holes, though, since they don’t use the same mounting points as the 401 covers.

    Online Service Manual?

Purchased Service Manuals are watermarked by KTM with the email address of the purchaser, so unlikely you’ll see one shared publicly. It’s worth the price, though, if you’re a DIY’er.

    Combination Instrument problems

That’s good news! If ABS doesn’t come back after a ride or two try re-seating the module connector again, it may be just a dirty contact or two on that connector.

    Combination Instrument problems

Hey there, sounds like quite the project so far. I tested the resistance of my front wheel speed sensor and got 377 kohm between the two male pins on its connector (pics below). The black Bosch connector is under the front center triangular plastic cover next to the flasher relay. If you’re...

    Combination Instrument problems

For the sensors to work they need to be positioned and wired correctly. Positioning should be a no-brainer because they directly mount onto brackets that hold them the right distance from the rotating rings. The wiring, however can malfunction in a number of different ways: broken wires, swapped...

    Combination Instrument problems

The ABS ring & sensor is how the ECU senses wheel speed for the speedo, as well as communicating wheel speed to the ABS module. Without the ABS ring sensor working you’ll have malfunctioning speedo, odometer, ABS and Traction Control. Double check the ABS sensor position and its wiring.

    Evap System

Tube 7 vents to the ground now, however you want: Alone, or coupled with the tank overflow. Do not cap it. Before it would vent through the canister, which would filter out the gas fumes. Fluid would stay in the capped tube, to be uncapped & drained manually, if needed. Now it will simply vent...

Has anyone figured out the display connector pinout?

It’s given over across many pages of the wiring diagram in the Service Manual. I could transcribe the pinout but I’m unable to do it until a couple weeks from now.
