Dual disk

Looking at the pix and not remembering the thread specifics, it took me a minute to see what the difference was - there was something that made the impact of the bike be different, but I couldn't figure it out at first, besides the white paint on the underfairing.

So I had to re-read the posts . . . yes, the white wheels.

I think it looks fantastic. Beautiful.

I was going to go in the opposite direction and paint the underfairing and the passenger seat cover blue. I think the impact would look very different from yours, but I love that blue color and wanted more.

I remember the Honda Interceptors and their white bodywork. Your bike has a similar impact. Again, very nicely done.

Big difference in the dual vs the single? Can you estimate the weight gain from the change? Just curious.
Thanks! I think that blue would look awesome as well!

I should have probably weighed everything but I was in too much of a rush to get it all installed lol.. I think the weight gain is not as much as you would think. The M50 calipers are aluminum and a lot lighter than the stock caliper. Also the rotors I used were from a duke 1290 and are very light. The fork lowers of the 790 are also lighter than the stock vitpilen ones.

I haven’t been able to ride it yet because of the weather here but just pushing it around the brakes bite a lot harder but I think that’s just a characteristic of the m50 calipers.

I would estimate the weight gain at 2.5kg
I think that is really close, basically the weight of one more vitpilen Galfer rotor on the front and the weight difference between 2 m50 aluminum calipers vs the single stock steel one. I am not sure what the weight difference is between the mags and spoked rims but if I had to guess I think the mags may weigh less.

looks awesome and clean!
spoked rims weight more then mags i read somewhere recently
, however now iam inspired to look out for gold spokes for the svart;)

I bet that would look sharp, these bikes are so hard to modify because they already look so good. iMO most of the heavily modified customs out there just look aweful aside from the aero bike and the Gas & Retro vitpilen. Kinda like trying to customize a Ducati 916

In the picture it looks like you went with 3 piece brake lines. Can you tell me more about your line set up.

I know you're asking the OP, but to me it looks like a one piece that splits under the lower triple.

It is a three piece from the ABS pump and stock line from the master cylinder to the pump. There is a short line from the pump to the t fitting on the underside of the lower triple and then the two front lines.

The whole reason I did that is because due to long wait times and all this supply chain nonsense I ordered the lines before I had the front end built and wanted to be able to just replace the lower lines if the fittings or length needed adjustment. What I should have probably done is keep a single line like the stock one and then probably just use a double banjo bolt and looped a short line over to the other caliper like the Ducati 848 evo uses that I got the calipers from.

I do need to adjust the lower line length so I have to order some more lines from Galfer… thankfully I don’t have to mess with the line to the abs pump because getting that line installed was seriously the hardest part of the project.

Fair warning though you can’t properly bleed the brakes without the husqvarna scan tool to run the abs pump so I plan on riding to the dealership once it warms up and having them bleed the brakes because I just can’t get them bled to my liking.

I understand your thoughts on the stock line with a jumper but the stock 90 end won't work with those calipers. Would you happen to have the info or lengths of the short line from the abs and one to a caliper?

I would use the stock line because of the end you mentioned but would probably copy it with a different end to get the length spot on… I’ll have to try and find my galfer order form for the details. Currently the lines to the calipers are about 2.5 to 3in too long

This is what I used, like I said earlier I think the lower lines are about 2.5-3 inches long and I think I would do it different if I had to redo it.. the line from the abs pump to the t fitting I think is about 1 inch too long…

took a quick shot of the “ugly” side incase anyone cared. I got a used stock muffler in the mail yesterday that I plan to cut down and weld.

I just noticed in this picture that your underfairing is non-stock. It seems to be a one piece unit. Where did it come from and why did you replace the OEM?

Seems quite similar in impact as the original. Curious.

It is the stock side panels but I made a sheet metal piece and welded it between the two separate pieces because I didn’t like the way the two individual fairings looked…

Do you plan something like this?

GRMoto shortened the stock muffler also. It is hard to recognize because off all the other yellow mods.
Yeah that’s what the plan is, going to cut it behind the clamp, shorten and re weld it back up. Not sure if it will affect performance so it will be easy to swap the original stock one back on if it doesn’t work.

Normally you could estimate about much to cut off based on your desired results and the volume before / after.
I am more concerned about the effects on back pressure due to the volume change in the muffler which could cause flat spots or hesitations, messing with the exhaust can cause some weird problems that are hard to tune out… I won’t install it permanently until I get around to doing the mid pipe and power commander.
