As the title would imply, I am very familiar with Miss Shifts.

Even with the quickshifter I hit that spot about every ride (brrrr trt trt trt trt) and just shake my head.

As many of the bigger bike riders know, Pirate Racing makes a kit for the 701, but they do not offer any help for the little engine fans.

Not to worry, the Factory Pro team has felt the pain and offers up just what the doctor orders.

Anyone treid this out yet, or is the Guinea Pig award still up for grabs?

up for grabs still. i miss shifts almost every time i try riding her a bit harder. i was thinking about getting this kit though, might as well swap my 11k mile clutchplates in the same go

ive seen some forum threads of people who have installed the spring, looks like the spring length may not be 100% accurate and needs some dremeling to drop right in

gonna put my money where my mouth is and jump in it. i'll let you guys know in 1-2 weeks how it goes

You prolly beat me to the punch as my shipping will take athat long.

I already have a new clutch cover seal and new clutch springs ready to go. I figure with 5k miles my rekluse should barely just be broken in.

hahaaha its a race then! i ordered from bikebandit which i've realized orders OEM from overseas. you might beat me anyhow

planning on being gentle with the clutch disassembly and reusing the old gasket. would you happen to know if i'll need a castle nut holder? or would a deep socket suffice to get the clutch basket off

Can you describe these missed shifts in detail?
Does the bike grind into the next gear? End up in Neutral? End up in the same gear?
Exactly what happens?

When I put the rekluse in, the gasket was 50% hardened onto the motor and 50% hardened on the cover, and removing all the traces of gasket took longer than the clutch job.

To get the nut off you need a basket holder and to remember that the threads are opposite.

You gun it and then it jumps into false neutral and pegs the limiter, usually between 4 - 5 or 5 - 6 and then when you let off it goes into a gear by itself.

Rarely happens with the quickshifter, normally with the clutch... and it always happens when you want to pass some clown trying to send Bic Pics of his pen while driving.

So after you move the lever and think it is in gear, and then you open the throttle and it pops out of gear?

So after the clutch is out, its in gear and you start accelerating, it jumps back out.

Which is why it tends to peg the limiter.

bike slips back into lower gear when upshifting rapidly. rolling off throttle, clutch in, shift up, reapply throttle in quick succession at mid-high RPMs. also occurs while clutchless upshifting at any RPM. it will also false neutral between gear 3-4

This has happened to me a few times when overtaking "Aggressively". I thought this was due to my inexperience with bikes... Guess I'm not the only one

me too! holy shit i was thinking i was such a schlub for this but then i replicated it a bunch of times just riding normally

Only on upshifts?
I haven't had this problem on my 401... but in the past I have sometimes remedied similar problems by lowering the shift lever so that it was easier for me to push it "all the way" up.
I'm guessing that hasn't helped?

I've deliberately jammed the shifter up with my foot before and was able to replicate it as well. Only happens upshifting. It'll take clutch less downshifts with ease, which I'll attribute to the slipper clutch.

It does help, so does wearing motorcycle boots.

Still happens though, only less frequently.

(Let me pull out on this highway, in front of fast moving traffic, oh no.....)

I've only had mis-shifts between 1 and 2 when I'm not adamant about the shift. I go into actual neutrals, I've heard other bikes have the same false neutral issue though.

went out for a ride and replicated it over and over again. its near shiftlight shifting from 1st to 2nd that is most egregious. almost pitches me straight over the damn bars

I miss a 2-3 (it stays in 2nd) once every couple hundred miles during a full throttle acceleration near redline. I figure it's just my foot not banging up hard enough to engage it.
