I know some people on here have other bikes in their garage besides Huskies.

So: what you've got beside your Husky?
What would you like alongside your Husky?

I've got a terrible craving for a Ducati 2nd Gen 749 in black or yellow at the moment, but there aren't many about in the Netherlands.

So before I purchased my 3rd bike (Ducati 848 Evo) one of the bikes I was eyeing were 749/999 platform Ducatis. I actually found them a lot more comfortable for my tall frame than the 848/1*98 platform due to the factory adjustability for the rearsets. Having said that, I ultimately went with the 848 because it was just an offer I could not pass up. At the same time, I was also inches from pulling the trigger on a 2007 MV Agusta F4 1000 but the gentlemen sold the bike before I could put in my offer. I was heartbroken and still consider that bike the one that got away.

In the past, I worked for Harley-Davidson so on multiple occasions, there were Harley's in my garage but never actually owned one. My first bike however was Harley associated. It was a 2006 Buell XB12 Firebolt in blue. I LOVED that bike and still do. The second bike was a 200% Hayabusa. That bike, I didnt have such a love affair with. I actually HATED it. The Busa was heavy, ratty (from previous owner) and ugly. I purchased it because it was big and comfy. What a regret. Here are a few pictures of the 848...

I bought my 701 in April 2019. I’d bought an RE Himalayan in August 2018 as a commuter so had both for a while.

As it turned out I used the Himalayan almost exclusively because it’s a far better commuter than the 701, and actually loads of fun, even though it’s lacking in power and brakes. I sold the Himalayan in Feb 2020 (just before lockdown as it happened!), mainly because having 2 bikes and only riding one seemed stupid; the Himalayan went because it was easier to sell and also because I didn’t think I’d given the Vit a fair go.

Right now I’m still not sure I will keep the Vit or not. If it does go it’s likely I’ll go back to Moto Guzzi, they are idiosyncratic but addictive and I’ve had 4 over the years.

I’m also tempted by the Triumph Scrambler 1200 but I’m not likely to spend that much on a bike these days.

My father just purchased a Scrambler 1200XE and it is a fantastic bike. That engine is just sublime and as is the fit and finish.

Moto Guzzis are cool! A mate of mine bought a V7 racer last year. He doesn't have a license yet, so he asked me to do the test ride to see if all was working OK.

It was cold and wet and I only rode it for about 15 minutes, but I had more fun than I expected! The engine has bags of character, and I love how the whole bike tilts when you blip the throttle while your sat on it 😎

@Riapax love the white on red wheels!
👌🏻

I've had a few Guzzi over the years...currently a 1982 V65. My Vit 701 replaced a Moto Guzzi Griso - what a torque monster. Loved the look and the sport bike suspension....but a pretty heavy lump to push around.

I had a 1200 Griso for a few years and agree it was a bit of a lump - but all the big blocks are, really. Great engine the 1200 but the 2 valve / 1100s have more of the Guzzi character...I’d also say the Griso suspension as standard is setup really hard and it wasn’t a great bike on the roads I ride.

I’ve also had an 1100 sport carb, a California Vintage and a Bellagio. The Bellagio had the best engine but the looks were challenging :) and the rear shock was dire.

I think I’d go for a Stelvio if the right one came along.

Well, the good news with the Griso is that it has an open ECU, so I was able to load a new map that really transformed the midrange and got rid of the lowend issues - and took the gas millage way up. But the big lump was the reason that I went for the svelte, lightweight vit.

These are called legacy plates, one of the choices of special plates here in CA. They either come with the regular random numbers/letters, or personalized. I ordered them like this.

We had "DRRRRR" on my wife's DR650, and have "JEEPJE" on our car.
