Writing on the wall?

i was waiting for the low displacement 4 cylinders (i have always loved the zxr400, i had one, bandit 400...etc). Now, in Spain, we have the kove 450r and the zxmoto 450 rr (amazing bikes and amazing prices 7000 eu on the road...to put that in context the kawasaki zx4rr is 10500 euros..)
To be honest i bougth the Svatpilen for the design and promotion price...but every day i ride it wins my heart a bit more than expected...
i will keep it and probably the zxmoto or the kove will be my second bike....or a second hand zx4r

Has anyone ever seen heel guards made from plastic (apart perhaps from children's push bikes)?
Here's an online find of some (already broken) heel guards from the brand-new 2027 generation KTM Duke 790 (no joke).
Cost-cutting at any cost?

Huskie back at Eicma, with a 801 add.

Makes you wonder about the discontinuation of the model?

This is their Eicma statement, being part of the KTM stand

‘Husqvarna Mobility continues its commitment to innovation, design and technology and will also use EICMA26 to present a selection of its latest models. With this, the company wants to illustrate its wide range and its progressive approach to motorcycle development.’

It’s quite interesting to read in combination with the image, since I heard that they were going to focus on dirt/offroad in the future.

I've not heard or read anything about it; but from the sales-numbers it would make sense.
Early 2024 I saw an initial preview in a magazine and was thrilled; after a test ride, I was so impressed that I ordered a Svartpilen immediately (nearly at list price) and also opted for several (quite expensive) extras; shortly thereafter, the list price was drastically reduced, and once several units had been delivered, it became apparent that there were (and apparently still are) several quality issues.
Fortunately, I haven't had any major problems with my 801 so far, and I still have a huge amount of fun riding and tweaking it!
But would I order/buy it again; knowing what I know now especially about the KTM/Husqvarna quality, about the (since many years still existing) issues and the significant loss in value? I'm definitely not sure about it...
Btw., with my (now ten years old) 2016 BMW R nineT I've not had any single issue or problem at all (it's now at about 30.000km); and even the first stock OEM battery still works absolutely fine; to me the R nineT is a long-term keeper; the 801...
There’s a $3K discount on a 2025 801 from the dealer I bought it from. It was $2K off when I bought mine last year.
I know that Husqvarna will be at EICMA this year. It’ll be interesting to see what they will reveal.
I’ve asked myself the same question if I would buy this bike again even though I still have the occasional shifting issues (2nd slipping to neutral). My answer is yes.
Happy to hear you BMW is solid, Tom. I’ve always had my eye on the R9T/R12nineT

I would defo buy the 801 again! What an awesome bike!
Not sure its a like for like comparison with the R9T!
I owned an R9T and whilst it was very well built (built like a tank!), it was not nearly as playful, nimble and quick as the 801. It's also in a different price bracket.
I found the R9T heavier, clunky gearbox, heavy clutch, lots of vibration in the wrists and I couldn't imagine touring on it. I used to get bounced off the seat too, so I had to put a Nitron rear shock and install Andreani fork cartridges to get it to handle remotely well. Then there's the cylinder heads that you catch your shins on when manoeuvring the bike! I know some people will see all of those traits as 'character' so maybe it just wasn't for me. I would say take one on a long test ride before buying.
(Sorry Tom, I know you love yours! Each to his own...)

Here's me on my R9T at Route Twisk, Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong...

To me, the 9T and the 801 are surprisingly close - much closer than I would have expected. Both are excellent for really tearing it up on winding back roads.
That massive torque available at extremely low RPMs is what makes the 9T so appealing to me; and compared to the 801 - with all its sensors and riding modes - the 9T offers a wonderfully analog, old-school riding experience. But you’re right; the 801 is indeed way more playful, thanks to its very low weight.
I fitted my 9T with a full Öhlins suspension setup (forks and shock), and it makes indeed a huge difference compared to the stock components.
Clunky gearbox, heavy clutch and lots of vibration? Then you’ve obviously never ridden an XR 1200 - a bike I still love dearly, especially for its very unique character.
For me, riding is all about the pure experience on remote, twisty roads - not about technical perfection.
The Fireblade SP, for instance, really wasn't for me at all; but at one point, I seriously considered a Norton 961 Dominator.
You’re right; not every bike suits every rider, and every model has its own distinct merits.
Yes, I may indeed have a quite odd taste... (y)😁

2024 801 Svart are 35% off here.

Your XR1200 is very cool Tom! Love it!

I like character too... I also own an Indian Scout Bobber and that thing sounds like a 70s muscle car. I love it.

Dang, Yonsson! Just getting into the 801 a few weeks back and appreciated all your insight and now your leaving! Pretty sweet though, how much riding will you get in before end of the year?

It's the 1390R? Damn, you’re absolutely crazy! 😁(y) Have tons of fun with the beast! ...and watch out in the roundabouts! ;)
