Wiring Runs

Took my 2019 Vitpilen 701 to the shop for the initial maintenance and software updates. When they plugged the computer in the bike went dead. Long story short, they had to replace the entire wiring harness.

After four months I finally got my bike back but they clearly didn't run the wiring correctly as now there are wires hanging out everywhere around the bike. Even the clutch line is hanging off the side of the bike. The line and many of the wires are resting directly against the hot engine, which I assume is probly not good... I didn't make a fuss about it at the dealership cause I just wanted my bike back, but now I don't trust them enough to take it back there, and unfortunately they are the only Husqvarna authorized dealer anywhere near me.

I would like to attempt to run them correctly myself. Does anyone have a diagram or a photo of the correct wiring paths? Preferably with the tank removed so it is visible.

Thanks!

The clutch line routing looks off, the rest of if I would just tidy up with wax string or zip ties so it’s not resting on the engine. When I put my power commander on I basically had to reroute everything because of all the added wiring. I can see if I have a picture somewhere.

Might not be too helpful because of the extra PCV wiring… I think as long as you tidy it up and made sure it isn’t rubbing or laying directly on the engine you’ll be fine. I am kind of curious why they had to replace the whole wiring harness just from plugging in a scan tool.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for!

I have no idea why any of this happened, and apparently neither did they. When they plugged it in, something was weird with the computer and it wouldn't communicate with the machine. Which in turn apparently locked the bike, software wise, so they couldn't start it anymore. Spent a month trying to figure that out, and when they couldn't they ordered a new computer. That didn't work either, so they ordered a new wiring harness. All the parts took 2-3 weeks just to get in so the time added up quick. Not to mention they were busy and they were doing all this extra work for free, so my bike wasn't at the front of line. Finally got it to turn on and I went to go bring it home.

I called every 2 weeks or so to get status updates since I never heard anything from them. I think they were trying to get me off their back after four months and just shoved everything back in and rolled it out the door.

I'm still missing the rear wiring harness due to back-order, so I don't currently have working turn signals. On top of that, my left bar end mirror got loose during all this and just fell off on the ride home. Has not been a fun experience.

Wow that’s pretty wild that a wiring harness would cause that.. I feel you on the parts situation, last summer I ordered some parts for my front end conversion in June and I didn’t get them until winter… I feel like dealerships have a hard time with our bikes, very rare and most dealerships also sell other brands that they have a lot higher volume and experience with.. let me know if you want any pictures with the tank on of something specific, the stock wiring routing kind of sucks so I tucked some of it out of the way.

Exactly, I just hope the spare parts for the 701 don't run completely dry since they discontinued them. And yeah this place is also a Yamaha and Triumph dealership so they definitely have high volume of other bikes.

I plan on doing the work this weekend, so I'll definitely let you know if I run into any trouble. Appreciate it again!
