Who is getting one?

Naah.. I would choose another bike. Maybe i will go supermoto again. Funniest bike i have owned was a ktm 950 SM. Miss that bike.

I'm giving it some consideration... it might make a nice replacement for my old Monster 900S. the 181 kg / 400 lb. weight is really attractive!

I'm out for now and still hope for an 901 Vitpilen.
Nevertheless I will have a look in real live and plan to do a test ride.

I am in the exact same boat. There are alot of things that disappointed me with this bike but also a lot of good. I just don’t know if I want to do the work to make it what I want. That and if the FSR900 GP comes to the US I would take that hands down.

I think they made a mistake leaning into the scrambler astetic with the tires and high bars but then left it with 17” mags. Doesn’t make sense.

And using the Chinese made 790 engine in their “premium” lineup is very off putting. Now if they surprise me and down the road release a 901 vitpilen I will be very interested.

I’m in discussions with my Husky dealer to trade in my 2022 401 Svart.

I get that the aluminum side panels are supposed to look like crash bars and match the skid plate, but I have a hard time liking them. The stripe in the tank doesn’t match the lines or angle on the side panels either. Kinda strange design.

There’s even a very cheap blacked out tank available as “power part”. Swapping the side radiator panels is a given, there are a lot of options available fitting the Duke 790.

According to an importer, the only part made by CF Moto is the motor block. This is not the same engine as the 790L engine.

I think if I didn’t have a 701 and only had my 401 I would be looking at the 801 too, although used 701s are pretty plentiful in the US. I agree with you on those aluminum radiator side panels 100%. I wish they would have at least paid Kiska to look over the new 801. The original 701 was so true to their design.

I personally am not a huge fan of the 801 but I am kind of surprised by the general dislike of it.
Yeah, I’m also surprised by all the negative comments. Especially since everyone seemed to love the prototype. There are details I don’t like (tank graphics and radiator plates) but I think in general it’s a good looking bike with a lot in common with the 701 and 401 which everyone also seems to love.

It might have something to do with how they released the bike. The multiple countdowns pissed some off. The prototype release hinted a rugged dirty bike and the final product is displayed as a street bike.

It’s also somewhat of a middle road between the previous Svart/Vit models. It’s fine by me but I guess most people wanted a high and rugged Svart and a lower more cafe inspired clipon Vit. If they don’t plan to release a Vitpilen, they should have called this one the Silverpilen.

Really good points, a lot of us have been waiting for the 801 since it was first teased in 2019 ish I think so that’s a lot of expectations.

I think it has a lot of potential, just needs a decent amount of work to make it what I want and I’m not sure if I want to go through that effort… low mount exhaust, bar end mirrors, new radiator side covers would make a huge difference.

Like you said I think they tried to hit some kind of target in between the svart and Vit and because of that made both sides upset.

I think marketing messed up. They could have called it Silverpilen. Everyone would then draw to the conclusion that there will be no more 801s and that this one is a bike in the middle of the Vit and Svart.

If I make a deal on one, I’m thinking the same. Black smaller slip on, bar end mirrors, probably a tail tidy and most likely black radiator covers. Might also get the carbon wind screen. Looks cool and is cheap. Starting to get used to the angles of the radiator covers though, looks kinda cool. It’s just the aluminum I don’t like. Might look cool IRL but I doubt it. Black vinyl cover could also be an option, cheap at least.

I just recognized the passenger seat has analogies towards the highly demanded 701 pillion cover and a build in spoiler.
