Hello everyone! I just got a new 2021 svartpilen 401 and I've only ridden from the shop to my house and it was awesome.
After a couple of days I moved it to a place with better light so I could take a couple of pics for the insurance and I found out that it was leaking something that could be water because it has no smell or color but I don't know if I should be worried or not.
The liquid is coming out of the hole that can be seen in the attached pictures and also you can see the drops behind the motorcycle.
Please tell me that is nothing to be worried about! IMG_20210520_135840.jpgIMG_20210520_140257.jpg

Is that the bottom of the muffler? If so that is likely water condensation. Or maybe someone washed the bike and got some water in the exhaust?
Almost certainly not a problem, but if it happened when washing, try not to spray water up the pipe. ;-)

Yes, I think is the bottom of the muffler. I also thought it could be condensation but is my first new bike so I'm a little more paranoid I think.😩
Thanks for the reply. I'll keep an eye on it anyways.

When fuel is burnt it produces water vapour - this is invisible and exits the pipe with all other gases. However, if the pipe is cold it will condense, which is why you see steam (condensed water vapour) or even dribbles of water coming from a cold startup.

My concern is that you have a hole in that seam in the lower canister and the condensed water is leaking out. The photo is not sharply focused in that area so this is a first guess.

Let the bike cool down and then start it up. Run it for a few minutes and turn it off. See if you get the drip from the same spot.
You could also check if exhaust gas is coming from the same spot. Hold you hand close by, or perhaps dust something like talc and see if it blows away.
If there is a hole in the seam the dealer should replace it under warranty. It won't hurt the bike to ride it like this, but that small hole will rust out and expand.

Its the exhaust, except for condensation or water sprayed up the exhaust, there isn't really a way for water to leak into there.
As Dr. Shift says, you do want to make sure there is no creak or exhaust gas leak in the area. His advise about that is good, just be careful not to urn yourself when it's hot.
No smoke from the exhaust right?

Got it! I'm going to check the seams in the area for cracks or holes. Sadly I haven't been able to ride again due to covid related restrictions so I don't know if there is smoke but as soon as I can I will check and report back.
I hope that's nothing to be worried about.
Thanks a lot.

If you look at the third pic from the OP you'll see that the stain is on the seam and not that hole. The seam might indicate that the portion with the round hole is an outer shell that is welded to the body of the chamber.

There is no problem with riding the bike. Think of the number of cars and bikes on the road where the muffler system is half rusted out.

Hi everyone, today I got to ride the svart again, 5km but it's something.
It seems that the problem solved itself, it did not leak during of after the ride. 8 hours later I turned it on to check and stil no water leakage.
Tomorrow I'm going to ride some more and I'll check again.

A couple of days ago I turned it on and it was leaking again and when I put my hand to the exhaust it got wet too. I don't know if the water came with the motorcycle from the dealership or it was condensation from the first ride but I hope it doesn't come back.

It probably will come and go with the weather.

Think of it like this, a hole costs money to make and you can be 100% certain that if your bike didnt need a hole in the muffler than Mr. or Mrs. Well-Paid-Engineer would not put one there.

If it where my exhaust system, every once in awhile I would put some WD-40 on a rag and give the header, premuffler and exhaust pipe a "once over" and call it good.
