Water condensation inside the instrument cluster

Lately I've noticed a few humidity spots inside the instrument cluster. They were really small, so it didn't really bother me.... This was a month ago or so and I didn't ride the bike that much for the past few weeks.

Yesterday we had a really nice day where I live and I went for a ride and cleaned the bike afterwards, everyhing ok (Apart for those same spots that where in the same place). Luckily for me, today I was able to go for a ride again and I noticed that the left side of the dashboard had fogged up a bit. It's not too bad, but I'm afraid it will get worse.

I had heard this is a common problem in the 390 Duke, but I had never seen this in this bike. So I'm thinking about taking it apart to clean the inside.

What concerns me is that the seal may not be as good after I take it apart. Has any of you taken it apart succesfully?

Was the bike kept in a warm garage and was it cold outside? That might tend to more condensation...
But it shouldn't happen anyway if properly sealed.

I am under the impression it isn't too hard to disassemble. Some guys have changed the polarizing film on the display to invert the colors and stuff like that. Might be worth considering if you are taking it apart anyway...

The bike is always kept in a collective garage. It's really big, so the temperature is usually a few degrees above the temperature outside, so maybe you are right...

I really like the look of the screen with the reversed polarization, I might give that a try! The process seems a bit scary though .

Sure! I can post some pics. If I change the polarizing film I will go for the blacked out look.

had the same problem humidity & small permanent sun spots so i complained at the dealer to clean it under maintainance but did not get better so they req. husk & unbelivable they did it under waranty and i got a new shiny one a complete whole dash , the problem now on my dash starts by 0km ;) yiihay

so husk will take care by doing online log on your bike to synchonise ecu data with dash...it will be done at your dealer through the ktm platform
, me so : alright please load the new version on the ecu aswel l -_- and they so yep. the whole sync takes up to two days...fyi

btw did you guys notice an extended warranty program has been released up to 80.000km extendable or 12 years . iam gonna to extent it now for an extra year and will see what comes...

I bought my bike used with exactly 2 years since it rolled off the dealer, so it's not under warranty as far as I know.

Need to read the fine print where it says lifetime means 50k km on singles, instead of 80k.

still 50k on this high revving engine is alot, unless they state you have to change piston 2 or 3times in this timespan... €€€€

I also recall reading something about piston and rings generally being excluded from the warranty.

Good thing a piston kit costs less than a new headlight... :)

hey looks like the US Warranty is different then from EU ></ they promote the Extended on their homepage valid for EU promo with12years /80.000km
maybe they know that half of them run with cat delete&powercomander ;)

The extended Warranty is Applicable to all end-users who purchase their motorcycles in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland.

in the us version basic written:

-PERIOD OF WARRANTY FOR MY 2021 HUSQVARNA MOTORCYCLES SOLD IN THE U.S. AND CANADA Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401, 701 Enduro, 701 Supermoto, Svartpilen 701, Vitpilen 701: Duration: 24 months from date of purchase or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. Limitations: This warranty can be transferred to subsequent owners within the stated warranty period.Applies to: Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401, 701 Enduro, 701 Supermoto, Svartpilen 701, Vitpilen 701

because they know that whoever uses these aftermarket pieces falls out if the warranty ,but stilll trying to sell you the extended warranty?
or buy offering this , they prove they trust their engines, as a selling point...?

I am sure that the experiences with warranty vary greatly, and this with any vehicle.

The marketing sells the first one, the service sells the second.

yep they claim the right to exclude in case the motor run to fat , or were driven only with a nylonsock as airfilter and so on ....but fact is that this motor runs in latest genereation
now & selling a decade long already...so bike designer are more afraid about the cost saving shiteee electric&sensoric then about solid motor with only minor weak points...

Hey buddy, did you ever take your instrument cluster / display housing off to clean the inside? How did you do it? Mine has condensation spots that make it hard to see the LCD in bright sunshine. Thanks!

Unless it's really bad and you cant't really see I wouln't do it. Mine came with some kind of O-Ring which was dry, so when I took it appart it broke.

I managed to close it pretty well again reusing the broken seal, but it will never be as good as new.

Here I explain how I did it if you are still interested: Reverse polarity LCD Display
