In the picture when you can see both of them in it it looks like one has slightly higher bars, I didn’t really notice any other big differences though aside one appeared to have a small skid plate.
 
Oh and the little wind screen thing above the headlight on what I assume is the svart.
 
For me the 701's uncluttered tail section is a stand out feature, this isn't as nice with the high level pipe and plate mount hiding the shape.

Agreed, the end-can doesn't do the silhouette any favours. I also prefer the 701's tablet shaped tank protusions, the triangular ones here don't look as clean.

On the plus side it looks like they're not using a casio watch for a speedo cluster anymore.

Crazy how different opinions can be...

I like the "casio watch" - doesn't distract me from riding, and the shift light is easily visible.

Hopefully they made the rider ergonomics "better" than the 890 - Having ridden one, that was a top reason not to buy one last time I was in the market. (Again, opinion thing...) That and the extra price for a QS 🙈

I don't mind the Casio style either, it's clear enough for me with the info I need :)
Only real gripe I have with it is how it's mounted on the Svart. It looks much better on the Vit.

For something the rider looks at so often I just wish it was better made. I'm on my 3rd clock due to condensation and now I'm out of warranty, so stuck with the problem.

Yours probably without the luxury of storing indoors & out of the elements?

This 901 is just a test mule with Svart handle bars.

Yeah, unfortunately don't have a garage, so keep it in a shed over the winter. Going to start bringing in the clock at the end of a season now.
 
So I had a scary thought with the 790 duke making a re appearance, is there anyway to tell the engines apart? I can’t see an external difference. Really hoping we don’t get a vitpilen 801….
 
Would rather not have a Chinese engined 801 vitpilen even though it would be alot cheaper.
