Tuning

Maybe I should add, jacking around with safety relevant devices or features on a motorcycle is definately not advised.

Please keep in mind that many spend more time prepping their ride than actually riding it, and when not paid adequate attention, seemingly simple modifications may result in exceedingly dangerous situations.

🤷‍♂️
Still have plastic spacers laying around incase my velcro fluffyness decides to unfluff.

(and no, I do not velcro my drill to the wall, that seems foolish)

I meant how hot a drill can get and who will velcro it to a wall?

In my opinion your throttle body will never get this hot that it leads into trouble with the glue.

But isn't there a bigger momentum if there is play between two parts. This means room to accelerate and then hitting the end stop with more momentum compared to no free play with spacers.
The same like safety belts that aren't tight fit.

There is spring pressure on the grip until the mechanical stop inside the electric throttle part, then the grip can rotate freely for about 1mm.

I think if i play with it enough it may be possible to position the electric part in such a way that the grip is aligned with the handle bar and electric part so there is virtually no free play at all.

Edit: I mean when "naked" - without spacer or velcro or such

I will pull out a manual and find the page...

In the mean time, I do it like this, as the manual details:
Important: the bike sensors needs to say the coolent is cold, like less than 25°c, or it wont work.
1. Plug in my Diagnostic thing, turn the key on, clear the codes and parameters with the diagnostic thing, then turn the key off.(probably optional unless you have an engine light on)
2. Turn the key on, wait for the tacho to be initialized, then slowly turn the throttle to max, then slowly turn the throttle to 0%, then turn the key off.
3. Turn the key on, start the bike without giving throttle, and let it run for more than 10min without touching anything (otherwise it will abort), then turn the bike off.
4. Ride the bike and let it "learn"

Done.

Hi, can you tell me what the ‘diagnostics thing’ is? Is it an official OBD dongle of some sort? Also, is it required or will the 690 still register an adaption reset without it and only with the 10min idle?
