From what I have found there are basically 4 ways to actually "tune" the 701 'Pilens, much like many bikes.

Listed here cheapest to most cost intensive:

1. O2 Eliminator - Available from numerous suppliers
2. Air Temp Sensor Trick - Booster Plug / Kev (ebay)
3. O2 Sensor Trick - Rapid Bike Easy / Kev (ebay)
4. Fuel / Ignition - Power Commander / RB Evo

Any experiance / recommendations (or the opposite)

I have air filter and booster plug on mine. ( And on my bmws). Been using them for a while. I mainly want smoother throttle and cooler running on my bikes. Works great. If you're looking for max power I'd go with option 4.

What you should be interested in is engine efficiency and achieving an unmolested air to fuel ratio throughout the the entire rpm range.
1. De-Restrict air intake (I simply removed the air box cover)
2. De-Restrict O2 circuit (low RPM lean situation/produces serious heat. Will otherwise over-ride mapping - I utilized the Rottweiler O2 dongle & bolt/removed sensor)
3. De-Restrict exhaust/air exit (replaced catalytic converter with arrow bypass pipe)
4. Fuel enrichment (custom Rottweiler mapped PowerCommander overlay)

Enjoy as intended as these bike seem to be designed with ease of facilitating these changes. By retaining stock exhaust can/spark arrestor the “authorities” should be none the wiser as far as appearances are concerned.

Note: My region does not require passing or certification for emissions standards. Instead, there are laws in place with potential penalties for modifying (or changing) the OEM exhaust system.

I understand that with a different airbox (cone-filter) and a different exhaust (cat-less) a new map is required.

With the cat and paper filter still in place, is a tune even necessary?
